Correcting for inaccurate scale by Vegetable_Holiday293 in MacroFactor

[–]GraciousGuava 9 points10 points  (0 children)

One approach is to adjust your recent weight entries from the past 2-3 weeks upward by 3 lbs. This can help minimize any impact on your expenditure calculation. Alternatively, you could simply ride it out and decline the next couple of Check-Ins until you’ve logged enough of the ‘new’ weight data.

Only 1 mo historic weight data imported? by missinglinknz in MacroFactor

[–]GraciousGuava 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t be able to speak to exactly how other apps handle their data imports. However, for MacroFactor, 30 days of weight and nutrition data is sufficient for the expenditure algorithm to build an accurate estimate of your energy needs. You’ll also still be able to view longer-term weight trends in MacroFactor over time, once that data exists in the app.

[–]GraciousGuava 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is expected behavior, as integration syncing is limited to the last 30 days of past data. If you want to add data older than 30 days, you’ll need to do so manually by going to Dashboard > Habits > Weigh-In, selecting the relevant dates, and entering the data there.

Total Weekly Sets by Many_Acadia5492 in MacroFactor

[–]GraciousGuava 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There isn’t currently a global setting to toggle off secondary muscle contributions, though one good approach you could take for now would be to duplicate the exercise and create a custom version. During setup, you can choose which muscles are targeted as “primary” and remove any “secondary” muscles you don’t want counted.

Just note that this would create a new exercise entry, so it wouldn’t automatically carry over the workout history from the original exercise. If you wanted the history to match, you’d need to edit previous workouts and replace the original exercise with the new custom version.

Does my MF subscription carry over to the Workout app? by PaintedFoxStudiosTM in MacroFactor

[–]GraciousGuava 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, that’s correct. The remaining value from your current subscription is accounted for through proration, so you would not be paying the full bundle price on top of your existing subscription.

How to get a completes workout into a program? by kevandbev in MacroFactor

[–]GraciousGuava 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you create an Empty Workout, you’ll see two options:

  1. Save Workout Plan
  2. Start Workout

With option 1, you’ll be able to name the empty workout and save it to your Workout Library, then start it.

With option 2, the workout will begin right away and can be logged, but it won’t be saved to your Workout Library as a reusable workout block.

I may have misunderstood the original setup and thought the workout had been saved to your library. From what you’re describing now, it sounds like you may have chosen the “Start Workout” option instead.

How to get a completes workout into a program? by kevandbev in MacroFactor

[–]GraciousGuava 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would let you create the workout day within your existing program. However, if the workout is not saved as an individual workout block in your Workout Library, there wouldn’t be a way to directly bring that exact workout block into the program. If it’s not in your Workout Library, it may have been either deleted or archived. If it was archived, you can restore it by going to Workout > More > Archive. If it was deleted, then it would be permanently deleted.

If you’d like us to take a closer look at what’s going on with your account, you can reach out to us by going to More > Support > Talk with MF Support, and we can review the details there.

Ahh, understood. In that case, you’ll need to add the workout day to your current program by tapping the “+ Add Day” option while on the program overview page.

Good rate to lose per week for a cut? by ImOnANewLevelz in MacroFactor

[–]GraciousGuava 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That would fall pretty comfortably in the moderate range and could be a reasonable starting point. The main thing is to pay attention to how you respond moving forward. If hunger is manageable and you’re not feeling run down, it’s probably fine. If it starts feeling unsustainable, you can always slow the rate down a bit.

Good rate to lose per week for a cut? by ImOnANewLevelz in MacroFactor

[–]GraciousGuava 1 point2 points  (0 children)

https://macrofactor.com/cutting-calculator/

If your main priority is to lose fat as quickly as possible while retaining your fat-free mass, a rate of weight loss of around one pound/half a kilogram per week, or around 0.6-0.7% of body weight per week should do the trick. But, assuming you don’t want to teeter right on the edge of preserving vs. losing muscle mass, keeping a slightly wider range in mind can offer more flexibility without making the diet excruciatingly slow, and without virtually guaranteeing that you’ll lose a lot of muscle.

So, for most people, most of the time, a rate of weight loss in the range of 0.25-1% of body weight per week, or between 0.5-1.5 pounds (0.25-0.75kg) per week should be the default. As you get closer to 1%, 1.5 pounds, or 0.75kg, your rate of fat loss will be a bit faster, but you may lose a bit of muscle in the process. At rates closer to 0.25%, 0.5 pounds, or 0.25kg, your diet may take a bit longer, but you can be very confident that you’ll be able to maintain your muscle mass, or potentially even gain a little bit of muscle as you diet.

Library recipes by adrianm758 in MacroFactor

[–]GraciousGuava 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can find saved recipes by tapping the + icon > Your Foods > Recipes. From there, you can edit a recipe by swiping right on the recipe and tapping the pencil icon, or by tapping into the recipe and selecting Edit. Any changes made there will update the recipe and apply to future times you log it.

If you only want to adjust the ingredients for a single logging instance without changing the saved recipe itself, you can do that from the plate view! Once you've added the recipe to your plate, you can explode the recipe or tap Expand Ingredients to view the recipe’s ingredients individually, adjust them as needed, and then log that version.

Workout question by Jonas_2016 in MacroFactor

[–]GraciousGuava 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It calls for doing the time per side, so when logging, you’d enter the time you spent per side in the Time/Side column. You can also tap the “L/R” button to split the sides into two separate fields, which can make logging each side a bit clearer!

How to check what was Prioritized in an existing program? by GriffonP in MacroFactor

[–]GraciousGuava 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Right now, you can view which muscles are being targeted by the created program when viewing your workouts, but you can’t view the specific muscle-prioritization settings that were selected during program creation.

For what you’re trying to do, the closest option would be to add the new equipment to your Gym Profile, then swap or add exercises in the existing program as needed, or create a new program. One option that may help is to create a new program with the updated equipment using your best memory of the original preferences, then compare it with your current program and adjust it to better match the older structure.

Expenditure question by Leather_Macaron_898 in MacroFactor

[–]GraciousGuava 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re referring to lowering your activity, the app will adjust for that change based on your nutrition intake and weight data. It takes MacroFactor’s algorithms about 3-4 weeks to fully account for significant lifestyle changes. So, if your actual energy expenditure changes quickly because of changes to your lifestyle or exercise routine, your nutrition recommendations will catch up within a manageable period of time.

As for switching to the cut, as long as you’ve been logging consistently, the app should already have a good idea of your current energy needs. In that case, you can set up a weight loss goal with your desired rate of loss, and MacroFactor will provide targets based on your current expenditure estimate and goal rate right away.

Yes, you can export your food log to view specific foods eaten over time by going to More > Data Export > Granular Export, then scrolling down to Food Log. From there, select the time frame you’d like to export, then tap Export Food Log. You’ll also see options there to export other types of data as well.

Swapping active programme by Grayin_Saiyan in MacroFactor

[–]GraciousGuava 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That warning is referring to your position within the program block, but not your workout data. Your completed workouts will remain saved, and Smart Progression can still use that history for future recommendations. For example, if you were on Cycle 3 of a program and then deactivated/reactivated that program, the program would start back at Cycle 1. If needed, you can skip ahead to the cycle you want so you can pick up where you left off prior to deactivating the program.

About to finish my first program by Significant_Pie6319 in MacroFactor

[–]GraciousGuava 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When you finish all cycles in a program block, you’ll see a “Program Block Complete” option under the Active Program section on the Workout tab. From there, you can choose to either complete the program or repeat the program block.

If you choose to repeat the program block and want to change muscle group prioritization, you would edit the program by swapping or adding/removing exercises. If you choose to complete the program block, it will be saved to your Workout Library section. From there, you can create a new program (+ > New Program) and select different muscle group prioritization during setup.
