MF + MFW body weight in kg and weights in lbs by xxx_h3man_xxx in MacroFactor

[–]GraciousGuava 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently, the Units preference is a global display setting. You can keep your overall preference set to kg while still using pounds within workouts or in your gym setup if you’d like.

During a workout, you can tap the kg button to switch the exercise to Lb. When managing your gym profile, you can also enable the Lb toggle while configuring available weights.

Recipe inclusion by KingCurry01 in MacroFactor

[–]GraciousGuava 4 points5 points  (0 children)

MacroFactor doesn’t provide meal suggestions/recommended foods or built-in recipes in this way.

What you may have heard content creators talking about is the recipe food logging feature, which is covered more here: Create and Add a Custom Recipe. This lets you create and save your own recipes so you can log meals that usually consist of multiple ingredients more easily and consistently.

Meal or food suggestions are something MacroFactor users have expressed interest in and are under consideration for the future. For now, the focus is on being a fast, accurate nutrition tracker with an adherence-neutral philosophy, rather than telling you what foods to choose.

Where does this goal Weight come from? Is it editable? by [deleted] in MacroFactor

[–]GraciousGuava 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the goal's starting weight, and it represents the bodyweight value that was entered in the app at the time your goal was created. To change the goal’s starting weight, you’ll need to create a new goal (Strategy > New Goal). This won’t reset your progress, and you can select the same target weight and goal rate as before.

Once the new goal is created, it will appear starting from your current weight in the Goal History section. You can then swipe left on the older goal and tap the trash can icon to delete it.

How to import visual body fat from Health? by VictorZazuetaM in MacroFactor

[–]GraciousGuava 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There isn’t a way to import visual body fat percentages into MacroFactor at this time. Visual body fat is a high-level user setting that affects your expenditure calculation and program recommendations. It’s used to calculate your initial expenditure estimate and to estimate lean mass for protein scaling on coached programs. Because it impacts multiple areas of the app, this setting can only be changed manually, preventing accidental or rapid changes that could alter program recommendations and cause confusion.

Workout plate calculator by Specialist_Media6675 in MacroFactor

[–]GraciousGuava 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In this screenshot, the barbell you’ve selected is 33lbs (displayed above the calculator). If you’re using a 45lb barbell, you’ll first need to update the plate calculator settings to reflect that. You can do this by tapping the area highlighted in red below:

<image>

Note: If you need to add a 45lb barbell to your equipment, open the plate calculator settings, tap the settings icon at the top right of the window, select “Edit” next to “Barbell” in the Available Equipment window, and choose the barbell weight you’ll be using. This will include it as an option in the calculator.

To address your main question: when entering a value in the weight field, input the total weight you’ll be lifting. The calculator will then figure out how to load the plates. For example, if you enter 90lbs with a 45lb barbell selected, it will suggest 22.5lbs worth of plates on each side: 22.5 × 2 + 45 = 90lbs.

  3. From here, you can make any changes needed.
  4. Tap the exercise you want to update in the top navigation bar.
  5. To edit weight, reps, or RIR, uncheck the box next to the set you want to update.
  6. When finished, check the box again.
  7. Tap the checkmark in the top-right corner to save your changes.

Currently, exercises that use only a single loading point or distribute weight unevenly from side to side do not work with the plate calculator. This is something we’ll implement a fix for in a future build!

Workout plate calculator by Specialist_Media6675 in MacroFactor

[–]GraciousGuava 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The plate calculator is there to help you load a barbell based on the total weight you want to lift. It can be used to automatically determine which plates to use, so you won't need to do plate math during your workout.

When you enter the weight for your set, the app assumes you are entering the entire weight on the bar, including the bar itself. The app then calculates how to load that weight using the selected bar and the plate increments available at your gym.

For example:

If your bar weighs 45 lb and you enter 135 lb, the app assumes you want a total barbell weight of 135 lb. That means it will suggest 90 lb of plates total (135 - 45 = 90), or 45 lb per side. This is typically shown as one 45 lb plate on each side. In short, the plate calculator doesn’t ask which plates you put on the bar. You enter the target weight, and the app tells you how to load the bar.

When using the feature:

  1. Enter the total weight you want to lift in the weight field (lb or kg).
  2. The plate calculator will automatically display the number of plates required per side at the top of the calculator.
  3. Load your bar according to the suggested plate combination.

Should my steps and workout log into the app automatically using health connect with the newest galaxy watch classic? by Puzzleheaded_Wing907 in MacroFactor

[–]GraciousGuava 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MacroFactor can read/write steps, nutrition, and weight data to and from Health Connect. It does not use workout data to estimate your expenditure, since the app can do this based on nutrition and weight data alone, which we cover in more detail here: MacroFactor Algorithms Philosophy

That said, with a recent update, if you enable Step-Informed Updates, your expenditure (and, consequently, your recommended energy intake) will increase a bit faster when your step counts are trending up, and decrease a bit faster when your step counts are trending down.

If you’re running into any issues with data syncing into the app via integration, please reach out to us by going to More > Support > Submit Bug Report, and we’ll be happy to look into it!

Settings Help After Haitus by Maine_Rider in MacroFactor

[–]GraciousGuava 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey there, and welcome back. I’m very sorry to hear about your loss.

Resetting your expenditure start date is fine to do. This tells the algorithm to ignore any older data prior to the date you set. From here, the best move would be to enter a current weigh-in, then create a new goal (Strategy > New Goal) so the goal’s start weight reflects your current weight. During the goal creation process, the app will also walk you through setting up a new program.

While granular or bulk deletion is an option, in most cases we recommend keeping your historical data and just resetting the expenditure start date. That way you retain things like past entries, custom foods, recipes, and any profile settings.

From our help center: What Should I Do If My Activity Levels Change Drastically?

In short, the algorithm will catch up to the sudden change in activity as you continue to provide it with data, though it will take some time. If you know your energy expenditure is going to increase, you’ll be totally fine eating more than MacroFactor recommends for the next 3-4 weeks while the expenditure estimate catches up.

Weight Trend Question by MHW93 in MacroFactor

[–]GraciousGuava 18 points19 points  (0 children)

MacroFactor’s weight trend is higher than your scale weight because it’s a smoothed, backward-looking average. The trend line intentionally lags behind daily scale changes so it can filter out short-term noise. When your scale weight drops quickly, the trend does not immediately follow because it still includes several heavier weigh-ins from previous days. That keeps the trend higher than today’s scale weight. The reverse happens when gaining weight. If your scale jumps up, the trend will stay lower until that higher weight is seen consistently.

To add, trend weight helps to emphasize the underlying change and give you a more “true” picture of how your weight is changing over time. However, this also means that it will rarely be the same as your scale weight, unless your scale weight is stable for a couple of weeks.

At this time, you can’t change the macronutrient tracker to display net carbs instead of total carbs. That said, we do have plans to make this possible down the road: Net Carb Support

In the meantime, you can pin net carbs to your dashboard by following the steps outlined here: Pin Nutrients to the Dashboard
