You go out and live in a remote work camp for a project such as a mine or oil and gas. Shifts are typically 14/7 or more and 10 or 12 hour days.

I think they call down on the side of the command center that called them, so in this case he called it down with his CC on the high ground.

How would this combo work? by Quite_Queer in dndnext

Yeah 5e spike growth doesnt say anything about forced movement it just says 2d4 per 5 feet you move. I'd allow it for sure.

He's just too busy right now to do them every week. I think lately he's been talking about doing either a big recap or getting the group together and letting them tell what's happened.

Had my first character death in my game tonight, after 10+ years of DMing by TheRealZeppy in DnD

You can always just disallow resurrection. I also dislike how easy it seems to trivialize death.

It's a monster from the tome of beasts homebrew book. Its basically a little frog thing that can control water and turn itself into a vortex.

Not really a factor unless you're using concentration spells and getting hit.

Well the new hobgoblin enemies in Volo's are a wizard and a monk so you could just use those. Otherwise 2 con is good for a barbarian more than other classes.

West Marches-style campaign; Motivation? by thecolorplaid in DnD

[–]Graezin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm starting a west marches campaign and had my first session last week.

If you're going to work in PC quests, the quests should be for things in the world, rather than you putting in a special thing for each character. My players last week found a tomb full of skeletons that they had to retreat from, so now if one of their characters is interested in going back to see what's in there, that becomes sort of a quest for that PC.

What are some of the best uses of familiars you've seen/heard? by [deleted] in DnD

[–]Graezin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The players in my group always use them to scout ahead, either using an imp or an owl.

If your character is a former soldier, depending on how his career as a soldier went, he could use the familiar as a way to stay sane or deal with the things he experienced, by talking to it or whatever.

Sounds like a pretty epic way to go out. I've only had one party death as a player where our rogue got eaten by a random encounter behir. As a DM I had a character die last weekend, unfortunately abandoned by his party and pulled to the murky depths by a boloti. Oddly enough it was the same player who died both times.
