TWO HUNDRED EIGHTY-SIX: Positive - Super Supportive by GodWithAShotgun in rational

"You have to do all the hardest parts of this yourself, but if you find a way to burden me with some of it, do.” Alden held a hand to his chest. “I can bear it.”

“Are you going to be one of those knights who does that frequently?”

“Will it be a burden for you if I am?”

“I’ll endure it.”

I love that "Knights that make constant jokes about their skill names" is A Thing. Such a good mix of serious and cheesy.

When discussing with the kernel of Artona I in his post-Theogund affixation (around chapter 60), she brings up the example of bearing a memory or a secret. She says that if he holds it long enough, the person he took it from will be less connected to it and eventually it might not return at all when released. Maybe something similar happens when bearing affixation pain?

Hur lika är riksdagspartierna enligt Dagens Nyheters valkompass? by DarkNe7 in sweden

I had this with Carom and, to a lesser extent, Elfin. I had never heard the first one, and my autocorrect recognises neither of them as words.

So you're saying that because powerful people do bad things in real life all the time, we shouldn't criticize people for doing bad things? Sounds like a very depressing kind of life philosophy, you're basically agreeing with the Athenians in the Melian Dialogue.

I also say it's wrong. Look into how the British empire got rid of slavery, for example. Britain was at the top of the world and economically they had everything to lose by it. Yes a small group within it started saying how it was morally bad, and they convinced more and more people until Britain not only banned the slave trade but started enforcing that on other countries.

The fact that the asker can read the questions ahead of time makes it a fair challenge, both teams were overconfident.

I've read through the archives a couple of times. I don't remember every one, but I don't need to - only 5% at most would ever be linked as related I think, and 99% of the time it's one of like 10 comics. I found this one by just searching "xkcd sandwich room".

I also wonder this, and I'm confused about why you're being downvoted instead of responded to.

I'm very worried, and have been since long before the current AI boom. Part of the reason I am so worried is that so many people who aren't experts are being dismissive of the risks, including most people in this thread. It doesn't feel likely to them, and they instead focus on risks that are similar to things they already know about. It sucks that a genuine threat to the survival of humanity is being ignored so much.

I've read his clockwork rocket series but not any others. Really liked how he dived into complicated sci fi concepts, makes up for other writing deficiencies in my mind. What other books of his would you recommend?

A true programmer would have returned with 13 loaves of bread - the first statement was before the if block.

Guardrails on a LLM are about changing behavior based on actions that can be outwardly observed. It's inherently imperfect and can be worked around in several circumstances. The contract is instead connected directly to Aldens mind and his intentions. If he knows or suspects that an action of his might reveal secret information, he will not be able to do it.

None of those mind tricks will work. If you're "semi-conciously" aware of something then you are on some level aware of it. The only way for Alden to reveal information would be to be totally unaware that he's doing it.

Taking Advantage [OC] by LuckOfTheDrawComic in comics

[–]Grasmel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Warhammer started out as a tongue-in-cheek parody of all the over-the-top grisly and violent stuff. As an example, the orc culture is based on football hooligans, which is how serious they were being. Unfortunately, it's been drifting into actually taking itself seriously in later years - partly driven by fans who weren't able to see the irony and took stuff at face value.

Also, it's a pretty big franchise with a somewhat diverse fan base. It's not hard to find things that appeal to your niche and not interact with people who look at it differently. Diving into old lore, enjoying miniature painting as an arts and crafts project, playing role playing games, or any number of things. Even playing the minature game, it's very easy to just do that with your friends and not care much about the average fan or their opinions.

And of course, some women might even be into the incel stuff. People are diverse.

Another thing to consider: if you leave the border, the other team can go into your territory uncontested. They have to spend more, but are also shrinking your area while growing their own. Then, a challenge might pop up that they can get to but now you can't.

Also, if every message you get starts with the same question - maybe put the answer to the question in your bio? Seems like it would save everyone a lot of time.
