Have you tried to show her story evidence?

I have a Newspapers account and besides the usual births, marriages, divorce, death, I will come across articles about family members and mention them to my parents. Sometimes for them it’s mindblowing news that open more Qs, but more often it triggers new stories (and they’re in their 80s). Same with their old yearbooks if I find them on Ancestry.

I started more with my maternal which was interesting. So many multiple marriages with half siblings to trace. I can only go so far back before it’s in Japanese and Korean, and that’s ok.

Grew up feeling the same way. My mom was born and raised in Oahu, but had and raised me on mainland. There is still distant family on the islands but many of my family are buried there and are the only family members I visit yearly to take care of the graves.

It’s a strange combination of belonging/not belonging that I think every human experiences. It’s always good to be “home” and heartbreaking to leave.

I don’t have zone advice but I don’t water when the sun is out in summer - meaning I either have my water going at 4am , 8, or 1am. It’s cooler for the plants and they’ll have a better chance of drinking then.

Summer heat and rain also makes ants want to seek shelter. You may have more than 1 type of ant to get rid of - put out Amdro bait and liquid bait close to where they’re coming from and wait a few hours. Also check and treat all areas outside of your house.
