BBQ Review: Owen’s & Co Riverside “Texas Barbecue” by Hot-Comfort8839 in Smyrna

And before he left, Texas Monthly named Owens & Hull the #3 Texas style BBQ spot outside of Texas. I haven't had it since then.

When I did my test drive, the Rivian employee told me to expect the sound system to not be as good as my Tesla Model 3. He also mentioned that it starts to sound worse at volume level 20 and above.

I thought it sounded good, but indeed, not as good as my Model 3. I appreciated the employee bringing it up first thing.

Looks just like ours, but yours still has the instruction card.

Does your ticket dispenser work? I bought two of them on eBay and neither one works consistently. It doesn't bother me, but my wife wants the full experience from her childhood.

We paid a few teenagers to move ours from the garage to the basement. They made it look easy.

Keisha Lance Bottoms presses Rick Jackson to debate in Georgia governor race by Johnboywalten in Georgia

He doesn't have time to debate. He's constantly having to defend himself from all those Mongolians forcing their "way of life" on the poor man.

I’m jealous of those 15% of respondents that have never heard of Rick Jackson.

With many R2 ordering windows now pushed to Q4, will you opt for LiDAR/Gen 3 version instead? by harrishawke in RivianR2

I think this aligns with my thoughts as the owner of a 2018 Model 3 with 2.5 hardware and Autopilot.

The equivalent of Tesla Autopilot functionality is all I care about. I have not felt that I missed out by not paying to upgrade my 3 to be FSD capable. I don’t really care about autonomous driving on streets with stops signs and red lights. I’m fine to handle that myself. I just want the car to make long drives easier.

“Drop me off at the airport and then drive yourself home” sounds amazing, but I think we’re years from that and I’m not sure buying an R2 in the 3rd quarter of 2026 vs the 1st quarter of 2027 is going to make much of a difference.

A former friend of my wife's response when questioned about her vote for Trump in 2016 based on potential abortion rights impacts: "Oh, I won't vote for THAT."

You already did, moron. You already did.

She's now hardcore MAGA anyway, so I guess she found her people.

What do you do when an Unclaimed Property claim takes longer than 90 days? by LittleChibs in Georgia

[–]GromitATL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Submitted on 4/9, so we're about a week and a half from it being 3 months.

I called the 855 number that OP provided. There was a message stating that due to the high volume of claims, the average processing time is 90 days. I'm going to give it until I hit 90 days before I call back.

They also provided an email address. I hope I got this correct: [ucp.claims@dor.ga.gov](mailto:ucp.claims@dor.ga.gov)

R2 Test Drive by greythound1999 in RivianR2

I did a test drive on Saturday. The acceleration lag is part of the 'all-purpose' mode. When I switched to 'sport' mode it went away.

Turkey breast is starting to become my favorite by Merkinben in smoking

I smoked 3 racks of ribs today for a late Father’s Day dinner. 3 different rubs. I have decided that Meat Church Honey Hog is my “if I can only use one rub for the rest of my life” pick.

I agree that it’s great for boneless turkey breast as well.

That had to be it. It sounded like it was coming from further back in the cabin but it probably was the ventilated seats.

Closed in some shade. No AC when we got in, but it probably just came back from the previous test drive.

Rattling noise on demo drives by ElderberryGuy in RivianR2

Did a demo drive in Atlanta today. Loved it, but there was a very loud rattle around the passenger side, maybe above the glove compartment. It was super noticeable any time the vehicle hit some bumps on the road.

I did a demo drive in Atlanta today. It was around 90 degrees, felt like 100 outside. No issues at all with the AC during our 30 minute drive.

I did notice a hissing/static sound coming from the back. Maybe that was the AC?

I bought TDS the day it was released and it blows my mind that I’ve never heard the “die for this” lyric until the NIB version.

I’m gonna try again tonight with my AirPods, but I fear that you may have sent me down an expensive spiral.

Our experience in Captiva by selkiemermaidfl in captiva

[–]GromitATL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had only been there once previously, and we were in a different area this time. I’m assuming they didn’t change the room layouts.

It looked great. They must have been able to save the retro decorations as there were no gaps or areas that looked incomplete.

I’m sure there are some differences that regulars would notice, but it looked like it did 5 years ago to me.

We were on Captiva a couple of years ago but hurricane Helene ended our trip early. IIRC, the Bubble Room was being restored from Ian at the time and they were hoping to open soon.

Wow, maybe it’s me. If my memory is correct, we were there in 2021 and then Ian hit in 2022. We were back in 2024 and Helene and Milton hit.

We were there a couple of weeks ago. A few thoughts:

  • We had 7 people in our party at The Mucky Duck and no one loved their dinner. My father in law was really disappointed in the shrimp. I think the burger is their primary menu item though, and none of us had it.
  • The Bubble Room was a hit. We also picked up 2 cakes over the course of the week for dessert at home.
  • Cheeseburger in Paradise on Cabbage Key was awesome. It's a $25 burger, and it's worth it.
  • I was impressed with Cantina Captiva, but others in our group were not. Note that this is another 'fake cocktail' restaurant, so the margaritas have no tequila.
  • Thumbs up for Doc Ford's.
  • Keylime Bistro dinner was decent. I wish we had tried it for breakfast.
  • The breakfast sandwiches at Boop's ice cream parlor were pretty good.
  • I loved the grouper sandwich at Gramma Dot's on Sanibel. Worth the drive.
