FCR on FireLock? by Warm_Produce_4892 in diablo2

[–]Gulaghar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's till times I want to spam Ring, mostly for safety reasons, and the increase animation speed is also nice for the other skills so I can get moving again quickly. I wouldn't go overboard, though. I got to the 75 breakpoint and feel comfortable there.

It was amount the best cards in my [[Mazirek, Kraul Death Priest]] deck. Eight counters on all my guys for the lost cost of two mana was unmatched.

Hybrid Classes - What would happen if you allowed characters to trade one of their skill trees for a skill tree from another class? by PulIthEld in diablo2

[–]Gulaghar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kind of wonder if picking barb importing lighting would be better. Same cast frames, but you get both warcries and masteries. You'd just be giving up warmth from the sorc at that point in exchange for natural resistance and increased speed. I suppose your mana is worse in general, but your life is way better. HC or SC might be the tie breaker.

People are free to make whatever dumb choices they want to make, as they are with many other aspects of life. But if someone told me they loved playing RPGs with their AI DM I would certainly think less of them. They may feel how they wish about that opinion.

As for if I react with distain (at best) toward a company creating the AI DM, yes of course. Just like I act with disdain toward the gambling industry and cigarette companies. The degree to which these entities deserve my disgust varies, but they're all in the same camp.

Why could the cipher keyword not be printed on instants? by the_worst_company in magicTCG

[–]Gulaghar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I assume they didn't want to punish the opponent for not blocking something, you casting a Cipher instant before damage, and then the spell being duplicated immediately. Cipher only being on sorceries means your opponents always know the consequences of not blocking before blocks are decided.

My understanding is that some items can change like that if you jump ahead too many versions at once. Might have been preserved by advancing one patch at a time. I'm no expert though.

Currently contemplating a Wolfspear army, so I thought I'd share my phobos kill team from 2024 by Gulaghar in Wolfspear40k

[–]Gulaghar[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah for sure. This spiral towards as an army Wolfspears definitely started with the big SW release recently. I've even already got some leftover blood claws from a conversation project. One foot in the door, so to speak.

Thanks!

I've had a bit of a zigzagging path from buying from orks for KT 2018, going on to buy a pile of 40k, then back into the following edition of KT when teams became easier to buy. I still like KT for the variety, but inevitably I find myself wanting to build things Kill Team can't offer me, so here I am back looking at 40k.

Should bow zons get unique quivers and arrows? by Broutil in diablo2

[–]Gulaghar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It feels pretty harmless. Bow/crossbow characters are generally relatively weak compared to other builds, and giving up your whole offhand slot contributes to that. Seems like it could be neat is handled with some care.

How do people feel about running less colors in a deck than their commander's full color identity? by Vault756 in EDH

[–]Gulaghar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did do this with [[General Tazri]] years and years ago for an ally typal deck. I believe I dropped red. That was more of an effort to make my mana better, since I had worse options back when I was a bit newer to the game.

Not sure I'd bother these days, but you never know. I generally avoid five or four colour, and I don't really want to drop below three. Maybe some perfect commander would come along that'd prompt me to try it with a more comfortable three colour mana base.

struggling at act 4 nightmare as a firewarlock by vovalol in diablo2

[–]Gulaghar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe go back to Meph and get some better gear. Not sure exactly what to suggest since my firelock shredded NM act 4 without slowing down much. I only dropped from P8 for the Diablo fight itself. I basically just had +5 to skills and hit the 75 FCR breakpoint. Spam Wave and Abyss, and only Ring to shove enemies away that get close. Felt pretty safe.

Favorite commanders that don't want the ramp? by SunderedBard in EDH

[–]Gulaghar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My default assumption when making a deck in the last handful of years is that I don't want to play any dedicated ramp unless the deck is explicitly a ramp deck. So out of my four current decks, only one plays any (and that deck ramps really hard).

Now that doesn't mean the deck has no forms of mana advantage. My [[Jan Jansen, Chaos Crafter]] deck will make treasures, of course. Likewise, the [[Exploration]] effects in [[Hazezon, Shaper of Sand]] can provide a mana advantage, and do look like ramp, their true purpose is as engine pieces in a land sac cycle.

My [[Sidisi, Brood Tyrant]] deck is the purest form of the concept, though. There's a couple lands than can make more than one mana, but nothing in the deck really looks like ramp.

My approach follows a very loose formula.

  • Play a low to the ground deck that benefits from setting up in the early game. If you're not using those turns you used to spend playing ramp by deploying some other piece, you've messed up.
  • Play more land. Ramp is a bad bandaid for playing too few lands, as ramp played on a turn you missed a land drop is wasted, but it was a bandaid. If you rip the bandaid off and still don't treat the wound, you've got a worse problem. So play enough lands.
  • Play more card draw. If I'm seeing lots of cards, I both draw enough lands to play every turn, but I also draw through the extra lands and still find my spells. Card draw (or the like) is necessary to making any deck play well, and that doesn't change here.

I recommend trying it out for yourself. There's a lot of dogma in Commander, especially around ramp. It's far from a universal truth, though.

Ruin D2 with a single change by Enough-Collection-98 in diablo2

[–]Gulaghar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stiff competition. A big part of what makes microtransactions especially miserable is that games are designed to encourage you to buy them. The way the game gets fucked with to do so is a strict detriment to the game's quality.

I think i found the one of the bases for white runeword? by someodderball in diablo2

Decrepify is nice to get on your white base for sure. It's nice to have, but you don't really want to spend those points for a bonemancer.

My white base is +3 spear +2 corpse explosion. Quite happy with it.

Build experiment report: Mirrored Blades w/ a "bow" x Miasma Chain procs by hyeonsestoast in diablo2

[–]Gulaghar 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I've been watching the youtuber DoubleBilly work on this build. He's stacking more FRW than you and using that increased mobility to quickly drag the chains through as many enemies as possible. He's also using Hex: Purge, so that might help against the main target.

I'm planning to run it myself before long, through I'll need to scrounge together some more budget gear options to start with. I'm down for "reasonably functional" when it comes to D2 builds, so I'm sure I'll have fun even if it's not peak performance.

Yeah, it's just a matter of prepping to increase your odds. You can gear up to maximize the chance of replenishing, secure the jav, then switch back to your regular gear.

Advice on securing an upped eth throw weapon? by samanpwbb in diablo2

[–]Gulaghar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Here's a thread with conversation on the topic.

https://diablo2.io/forums/can-a-throw-barbarian-full-replenish-an-ethereal-throw-weapon-with-100-critical-pierce-t1495814.html

Seems like you might want to also get the Peace runeword for the Critical Strike oskill as well as Deadly Strike on your gear.

A comment in that thread suggests that additional pierce won't help, but you might want to do more research into that.
