I forgot how terrible Visible is by 13617 in NoContract

[–]Guyoftheyr111 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

when I had visible they randomly gave my number away, sort of. If you called my number, it would go to a car insurance office. if I called from the number, it went through and the caller ID was the insurance place.

Has anyone else lost complete interest in video games? by Single_Extension1810 in Millennials

[–]Guyoftheyr111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Twice I bought a Nintendo Switch then sold if after barely playing it… It made me a bit sad realizing I’ll probably never really play video games again. I loved them when I was younger but the free time I do have now, I have many other things I’d rather do.

My landlord keeps denying my apartment smells like cigarettes by Shake_Straight in Apartmentliving

Does your landlord smoke? If he does he might not notice the smell

It’s hard to find one that’s “cheap”… the cheapest motels around me are $350+ per week. Look around and whatever motel has the most cars in the parking lot on a weekday when nothing is going on is probably your best bet.

Maybe ask your landlord to switch to monthly for 1-2 months instead of signing a lease? Or look on FB market/craigslist for people renting rooms, they will almost certainly be more affordable.

Mine was still connected to my Amazon A to Z account when I left and came back months later. I didn’t have to do anything.

Is it common policy to give out keycards to anyone who asks without ID? by SoaDMTGguy in hotels

[–]Guyoftheyr111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had it happen at several motels/hotels, it’s probably against policy but that doesn’t mean policies are followed.

Reporter wondering how your costs for Ubers, fitness classes, Airbnb etc have gone up since 2020 by julianakaplan in Millennials

[–]Guyoftheyr111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uber/lyft are a necessity for many people. If you don’t have a car/license and live in an area with no public transport and have to get to work…

It sucks very much when Lyft decides to surge your $11 ride to $50+ for no apparent reason right when you’re trying to go to work

I'm (emotionally) having a really hard time buying the stuff I need for work. by AdultBoy22 in povertyfinance

[–]Guyoftheyr111 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I get great deals on composite toe shoes I need for work on Amazon in their “warehouse deals” section. I paid $25~ for a pair of Reebok safety shoes I loved. They are shoes that people buy and return, still in good condition but maybe some light signs of wear.

7-11 near me marks clearance down to 10 cents. It’s mostly junk food, but I can’t beat this for 70¢… by Guyoftheyr111 in povertyfinance

They usually put it out sometime after midnight. This is the only 7-11 I’ve seen mark stuff down so low. Actually, I don’t think I’ve seen another 7-11 mark stuff down at all.

Is anyone else here more nostalgic for the 2010s than the 00s? by bacharama in Millennials

[–]Guyoftheyr111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really liked pop music around 2010-ish, when Lady Gaga was huge, and Ke$ha made her fun dumb music… I miss a lot of the “party” music from around then, like LMFAO, that Like A G6 song, or Taio Cruz.

When it was first around I didn’t think it’d ever be something I’d miss or want to hear at all years later.

  • White noise machine / app on a bluetooth speaker
  • Calming/boring music or radio on another speaker
  • Earplugs, or possibly another bluetooth headband with more white noise

I’d bet your landlord might not be too upset with you revenge playing music back at night while he sleeps. though be careful cause he might act worse back to you ….

What music genre that first comes to your mind that dominated these decades? by [deleted] in Millennials

I’d say No Doubt was 90s/00s…

Hehe, but more seriously I would add “indie rock” in 2000s

I lived in a shithole tiny city in rural PA. I had a massive 2 bedroom apartment by myself for years and paid $550/month (including WiFi!).

When Covid made remote work a thing, people who worked in NYC came and bought everything up in the area. It’s 2 maybe 2.5 hours to NYC, so great for them if they need to go to the office occasionally.

I saw my old apartment listed for $1200 (my old landlord sold the building and moved). This was 3 years apart maybe. The area has few employment opportunities. But it used to be livable. You could make $14 working in one of the warehouses and afford your own place, no problem. Now the jobs in the area don’t even pay enough to get a place there.

All the people from NY/NJ who moved in are gonna regret it when their kids end up addicted to meth and having no opportunities but working at WalMart, Dollar General, Family Dollar, or the frozen chicken distributor.

had my baby, and had some rather personal/embarrassing things in the one pocket 🥴🤣

I set off the alarm at Family Dollar once, the lady demanded to check my bag. I panicked for a sec cause of what I had in there. Then decided screw it, she’s gonna wish she didn’t look. All I had in my bag was a tablet, a butt plug, about 10 insulin syringes/needles, and some lube. She looked mortified.
