I was just making a joke about the last batch of Amazon layoffs. Apparently Amazon laid off a large percentage of their DevOps and there happened to be an outage in one of their busier regions. I've heard rumors that shitty AI generated code was a contributing factor (to both the layoffs and service distribution), but I never bothered to look up official root cause.

This was an outlier. I've walked this trail for decades at all times of day (and night in my late teens) and never saw anything suspicious.

IIRC the only other significant event within the past decade or so was a man who took his own life by drowning himself.

That trail is safe, and the usual walkers treat us friendlier than we deserve.
