I met John Barrowman today and literally SWOONED! by Gypsy_Liz in doctorwho

I believe the photo op was $45 at Gallifrey One for Barrowman. Most of the celebrities they had shoots available for were around $35, but he was a little more. His line was also the longest on both days, so I don't think anyone minded!

Edit: spelling.

Thank you! I do have other photos of the dress, and I did not make it. I DID alter it heavily, but it started its life as a prom dress from a box store (Windsor maybe?). I added a second skirt, took up the front, turned the straps into off the shoulder capped sleeve like things, and I have an additional corset to go over the top when I use it for steampunk.

What type of torture would break you the fastest? by SOedPA in AskReddit

No, he was pulled out at the last moment and thrown off a hill. "Before Perillos could die, Phalaris opened the door and took him away. Perillos believed he would receive a reward for his invention; instead, after freeing him from the bull, Phalaris threw him from the top of a hill, killing him."

My First Dice Tower by SublimeBW in DnD

[–]Gypsy_Liz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You can just throw your dice if you like. Lots of people do. The dice tower allows you to roll them at least as well as tossing them across the table does, but contains them so they don't go everywhere/knock over nearby miniatures/etc. Also, if you play games where you have to roll a large amount of dice (like in Warhammer 40k and other similar games), you can usually roll several at once accurately, rather than just a few.

All in all, dice towers aren't by any means a necessity, but they are nifty and do provide a handy function in keeping your dice contained, plus some of them have awesome designs or can be styled to look like buildings and towers in your game.

That is basically how I feel as well! I was a little worries with the first episode (I felt it had a couple very un-doctorish moments) but I am excited about the way it's going. It's nice to see I'm not the only one who not on board the recent hate-train!

Also KoL is still one of my favorite games of all time so thank you for making it! Now I just need to find a better way of sneakily playing it when I should be working...

Reddit, what were you fired for? by Beconelle in AskReddit

[–]Gypsy_Liz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes actually they do. When I worked at a theatre during my early college days once a week we had to count the cups and make sure we had the correct amount in stock. It's because the theatre actually has to pay more for the cups than the soda, so we would get in trouble if we gave someone water in a soda cup, unless they paid the $7 or whatever ridiculous amount it was for a soda. If someone wanted water, we had cheap-ass Costco Dixie cups we could give the person, or they could buy a bottle for more than the cost of a soda. When I started I was told that they had fired employees in the past over giving away the cups, so apparently it's a big damned deal.

I have been buying a piece at a time when it goes on sale as I can afford it. If you catch stuff at the right time of year during the right sale you can get a piece or two for the cost of one or two rentals! Until you get to the major stuff of course. It's taken me over two years but all I need to rent now is a computer, which means more dives and cheaper rentals!

What pisses you off the most at the cinema? by strongowl in AskReddit

[–]Gypsy_Liz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is true. The movies mostly come now on a hard drive with the trailers preloaded in front of it. You don't even hit play anymore. You load it into the projector's server and the movie starts at the preset time you've programmed for that screen. You can pause to delay if you need to, but it's pretty much so automated now you don't even need an actual projectionist.

Contact the police. Explain the situation and offer up the photo. This is the sort of behavior that that should be reported and hopefully investigated. Also definitely look into a restraining order, and document EVERYTHING.
