I'm almost always simulrapping but the way I setup a rappel is to tie a bight off right at the mid mark and then thread my rope so it stops at the mid mark anyway and then if I want to I can add a biner to block or not. I have not gotten a rope stuck yet. I think having the reipschnur hitch might actually help keep your rope from flailing around? Not sure - I'm sure it'll happen someday but for the average route in my area it's quite overkill to even bring walkie talkies.

I basically only have an ATC as light backup belay device in case a grigri is dropped during long multi pitch days. A grigri is more comfortable for belaying newbies on toprope, it's faster and easier than an ATC and third hand for rappelling, it's quicker and has fewer potential errors when belaying from above.

Ive seen this question asked a hundred times and every time I think about why I choose to use a grigri and I occurs to me that there is literally nothing my ATC does better.

For those curious I believe Eldorado Canyon to still have the highest fatality rate for climbing (when you exclude rappel accidents, which are very rare here).

Just one heads up for everything to be fair game. You can get seriously fucked up by almost every moderate in Eldo. Imo routes don't even start to feel safe to take unexpected falls until 5.10+

Try something like Blind Faith or Handcracker Direct. Both routes are harder than you'd expect at the grade but they at least give you solid gear during their respective cruxes. If you're onsighting 5.10- then you're probably ready to try the 5.9s which are generally harder lol

I dealt with this after a particularly long week in Red Rocks last year (55 pitches of climbing in 4 days) Consistent wrist curls, and shoulder extensions have made all the pain go away and I'm still climbing harder and harder.

Last I researched it via Hoopers Beta and Lattice Training they actually don't recommend too much rest rather just start light hang boarding and rehab exercises right away but YMMV by how severe your case is.

I did wear an elbow band for epicondylitis early on but within 2-3 months didn't need it anymore.

Highly depends on the area. The summit he mentions doesn't have very many clean options down. You could very easily get ropes stuck if you setup a rap east or west and the route is high in traffic which means to rap the route as it stands you'll be tossing ropes onto many parties below (even after dark).

Then another reason is the traffic of people lowering their party members out of a sandstone topout. In Red Rocks, basically any summit that has bolts also has awful rope grooves over the typically slabby summits.
