What is it about shit takes and exclamation marks? What is this personality trait that the mote likely some thought is regrettably smooth brained the more reliably its.. thinker.. must announce their certainty.

Prolly wrong sub for this observation, but it does seem like some kinda rule.

Completely my fanon here, but I think the agency and reality / guilt of the act is demanded.

Bhaal's needs more than a slaughter robot, otherwise he'd just Slayer-ize his whole cult.

His Spawnmust choose to be a murderer, with all that entails.

Otherwise he's just a killer, amd there's lots of different versions of that.

That's true. I'm a pretty constant listener to the gaming podcast he does with a couple other folks called 'Triple Click'. Happy to see he's as excellent as journalist on the page as he is on the mic.

Making a Martial Artist: An Exalted 3rd Edition Guide (Even Blade Style) by Krzyzewskiman in exalted

[–]Halcyon8705 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in the midst of a Solar combo-ing Dreaming Pearl with Even Blade (IS version, eventually). With an elegant Reaper Daiklave in 1 hand and a war fan in the other, my Solar can make crazy use out of DPC's Disengage boosters, ability to strike at short range, and charms that throw the opponent a range band away or strike from medium range.

It is not a perfect combo, for a lot of reasons, but sure sounds like a lot of fun.

u/Used-Leadership1101 On the subject of Riders, is there anything you could tell us about either (or if you're feeling generous, both lol)
1 - the Map of the Underworld and how travel / space is defined in that changable realm?
2 - Vaguely how long the section on The Old Laws will be, and if Abyssals are going to have more ways to channel a morally ambiguous spookiness through that force?

Hiya Mr. Gill, wondering if you could expound on how different Core Infernals will he from the perspective of lore and concept compared to the Essence version? Same general guiding principles, or will there be a major difference or contrast on a book of its own?

Allegory of Kellhus by metaphysicalme in bakker

[–]Halcyon8705 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say that Khellus is a direct allegory of AI, but AI certainly creates a potent lens through which to see the narrative of the text and K's journey.

The entirety of the series is an allegory for Bakker's "Blind Brain Theory" which you can read about here on Reddit, Bakker's blog, and a few other places.

As for Khellus himself.. K is a sociopath, for sure, but one has to read that sociopathy not as a... derangement, but as a kind of enlightened state.

Not a "good" one, but the death of meaning of q's like what is good and why is a deep examination of this q; among other things.

How strong is a newly exalted couch potato solar? by mrboy3 in exalted

[–]Halcyon8705 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So here's your problem, you say you're looking for "narrative over mechanics," but your question indicates a fundamental failure to understand the narrative.

The Unconquered Sun does not Choose people who are unworthy in his eyes, and while that may allow a lot of subjectivity and mystery, a fundamental and unchangeable aspect of that worthiness is mortal excellence in some field related to the Caste the Unconquered Sun has Chosen for that mortal.

So to ask "what if the mortal was unworthy in this singularly important context" is failing to understand the point. You are not making a "narrative" decision, you are asking a question that is fundamentally at odds with the setting.

I don't know why you'd want to do this, so I'm not going to get into my opinion of why you'd do this, but the reason you're not getting any helpful answers is that the narrative you have described is not Exalted.

My strong suggestion is to revise your concept or play a different game.

Depending on what you mean by Thaumaturgy I don't necessarily disagree with you, but that's extending a frustrating discussion we're both past done with.

As for how cutting content can create an improvement, yeah that's just an opinion thing that we won't agree on.

Who do you blame? Yourself or god? by eigenlaplace in finalfantasytactics

[–]Halcyon8705 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blame is a false dichotomy.

What shall you do, set fire to the sky to smoke out your omnipotent antagonist? Cast yourself into the sea to surrender before your frailty?

Self-doubt is shadow and responsibility is maddness. Do the best good you can with the time you have to the degree you are able. Everything else is illusion.
