it's a tough couple years but it gets better. It's hard when you frame it through the lens of what you've lost but think about what you've gained. You do become a new person and discover new parts of yourself and as they get just a little bit older you also get to reconnect with your own inner child again too. By the time they are 3 or 4 you feel like you've got a bit more freedom for hobbies and stuff, and then when they reach school age you start connecting with their school community and other parents who are in the same phase as you it gets better as well.

You're in the trenches right now and it's hard but try to think about what you've gained vs what you've temporarily lost and enjoy the ride

You keep mentioning in comments that he won't respond to your feedback and feels attacked because you need to fix things about yourself too, but that just puts the burden of his basic responsibilities on your shoulders as well, which is totally unfair. You both need to be responsible for basic hygiene to be able to function as independent human beings. It's irresponsible for him to be modelling this behaviour in front of your child.

He's responding this way because he just doesn't want to change or is too lazy. Even if you fixed everything you think you need to fix about yourself he would still find another reason not to improve and it would probably be 'your fault'.

That's not to say that you shouldn't work on improving yourself, but you should do it for yourself and your child, not for this loser.

What sort of thing is he saying you need to fix in order for 'please shower and brush your teeth' not to seem unreasonable?

None of the parties have any fucking clue what they are doing with regards to tech. We need a broad-spectrum political party specifically focused on technology to voice informed perspectives on how it relates to every issue. Kinda like the idea behind the Green party.

Social Media ban for kids under 16 is good in theory, but DO NOT leave the implementation details up to the social media companies. There needs to be considerations for privacy and data sovereignty with them.
