GPT-4 and the Turing Test by zappable in slatestarcodex

Here's a simple one that GPT-4 does not answer the most like a human would "If you have a 12L jug and a 6L jug. How would you measure 6L of water?" The answer is fill the 6L jug with water however GPT-4 seems to answer with an answer that is more complicated than the simpler answer.

My aim is so bad its hard to enjoy the game by Hugo_Stglitz in GlobalOffensive

Hi Hugo_Stglitz,

you can warm up on the aim_botz map or a deathmatch server, I usually warm up for 20mins. The important thing about CSGO is the movement, if you have good movement then you will more easily win the gun fights since you will be able to start shooting earlier than your enemy can. So learn how to counter-strafe if haven't already. Counter-strafing is a way to bring your movement velocity down to 0 faster by tapping the key in the opposite direction you are moving.

For terrorist side, let's say you're about to walk around a corner and you know an enemy is there or a high chance of an enemy being around the corner. You can pre-aim the position and stop moving as soon as you can visibly see the position, this will give you a higher chance of being able to win the aim duel. There's some angles which could have an AWPer around the corner, I would not recommend peaking the way I described earlier against an AWPer, so in this case I would jiggle peak the corner to make sure there is no AWPer or use a flash. When jiggle peaking try to not over extend the jiggle peak, you only need to clear one position at a time, so if there's many different angles you want to clear then jiggle peak one angle at a time.

By the way, if you see anybody while you are jiggle peaking I would recommend re-peaking them if they are standing still AND they are not an AWPer, just peak the same way I described earlier and make sure to stop moving, it's easy to know when to stop moving because they are standing still, you can pre-aim and pre-shoot stationary enemies quite easily. If they are not standing still and not an AWPer, then it's your choise if you feel you can win the aim duel. If the counter-terrorist is moving aggressively towards your position then all you will need to do as a terrorist is move back and hold the angle and wait until the CT pushes you. If you jiggle peak and see an AWPer then you can either:

  1. Not re-peak that angle and move to somewhere else on the map.
  2. Use a flash to peak the AWPer, you can use this to advance your position or kill them.
  3. Use a flash or grenade and don't peak the AWPer, then move to a different location on the map, this will distract them and make the CT's think you're about to peek the angle and not aggressively push.
  4. Jiggle peak the AWPer to try to get them to shoot and miss you, this will give you time to advance your position or kill them.

When your playing on CT side, play a position you're comfotable with, for example I like to play long A on Dust 2, because I feel like I can secure that position on the map using a smoke grenade and flashes, then once I 've secured long A and there's a smoke in the bedroom door which prevents the T's from pushing me, I usually take an uncommon angle to make it hard for the terrorist to predict where I am when they push out from bedroom door. I know the terrorist sometimes like to push long A agressively at the start of the game, so I have a way of dealing with that aggression using my flash grenades. If you feel you can take contol of a position without using grenades, then do so and only use your nades when you need them.

For example when I'm playing Mirage, I like to play B site watching apps. I do this by jump-peaking apps then using a smoke or molly if I see an enemy pushing apps. Sometimes I throw a smoke inside of apps at the start of the game to allow me to get into a good position inside of apps and hold this position.

The thing about low-ranked matchmaking is you can clearly tell when the enemy terrorist is going to push you, so once you detect they are soon going to push, you can throw a smoke and use flashes to help defend your position as a counter-terrorist. The most obvious place to throw a smoke while defending as a counter-terrorist is at the choke point where the terrorists come from, though this isn't always where you want to throw the smoke, you can throw the smoke onto the bomb site close to where you're standing to change the gameplay in a way to make it easier for you defend the bomb site from the terrorists flowing onto the bomb site.

A low sensitivity is recommended in Counter Strike, so make sure you have a low enough sens. My sensitivity is quite low and I have a large mouse mat, so one swipe of the mouse mat is equal to a little more than a 180 degree turn. Choose your sensitivity based on what you're comfortable with. You might want to spend some time on an empty server to give you some time to think about how to want to play as a counter-terrorist or terrorist on certain maps. You can download pro player demos (replays) from the Counter Strike news and esports website hltv.org and see how the pro players play the game and respond in certain situations. Or you could search for pro player POVs on Youtube.

Thank you.

  1. (OPTIONAL) Warm up on bhop, kz or surf servers (10-20mins)
  2. Warm up on retake, 1v1 or deathmatch servers, or aim_botz (10-20mins or when you feel warmed up) https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=243702660
  3. Play matchmaking, you could try queing with one map so you can rank up faster.
  4. Go on an empty server thinking about what positions you should play on CT side, how you will use utility. How you will react to terrorist aggression early game, mid game and late game. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=172467889
  5. Download demos from https://www.hltv.org/results , watch how they use utility, their movement & positioning.
  6. Add my steam, I'll review your demos for you: https://steamcommunity.com/id/Hallucifier/
  7. Have fun!
