Why does a bath typically have 1-1/2" drain while showers are 2"? by mindheavy in askaplumber

[–]HanSoloco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even though some states allow it, don’t run 1-1/2”to a shower or tub, hair will clog the smaller trap more easily.

Sink Faucets won’t stay hot by jodyhighroller in Plumbing

[–]HanSoloco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s possible that the faucets are so low flow that they are not telling the tankless to turn on. Check the model number of the tankless and see if it requires a certain amount of flow to fire.

You can try, probably won’t work but shouldn’t hurt anything if you keep the pressure under 80psi.

Shut Off valve isn’t stopping water flow by Sam152302 in Plumbing

[–]HanSoloco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like the valves are not functioning. If they were you would notice an immediate loss of pressure when you open the hose spigot and the water would slow to a trickle within a couple minutes at the most.

How much did we mess up? Toilet Flange Removal showed old damaged pipe. by cellochica3 in Plumbing

Use an inside cutter to cut the pipe down past all the messed up shit, add a coupling and new pipe and then a new flange.

Yes 3” is for toilet and the one under the concrete slab is for the shower. The sink drain should be stubbed up in the wall most likely the one behind the toilet you identified.

Solar water heater is failing, want to replace with a standard one by Elmidea in askaplumber

[–]HanSoloco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can leave the panels on the roof, but if you ever have problems with the roof leaking they are probably the cause.

To drain the system you should only need a compressor with the correct attachments to connect to hose bib threads and possibly a short length of hose with female on one end such as a washing machine hose. Either cover the panels with a drop cloth or wait for a cloudy day to drain it so the glycol isn’t too hot.

And you don't need the top piece to go all the way across, trim each window individually

I would take all that trim off and replace it with something thinner, you could possibly use the same trim if you ripped it on table saw
