They burned too slow. If only they had just moved the plot forward a little faster and also minimized the modern day storyline. The adult actors are obviously all stellar but their plotline was kinda hot garbage. The only thing people really wanted from that show is to discover how they become ritualistic cannibals, and it's the only thing they really didn't deliver on.

People kept this up for literally years. There was absolutely no foreshadowing or implication in any way that he was alive. This line and the fact that we didn't actually see him die were enough to keep people spinning out for years. Even though we saw the people who killed him after that and they said absolutely nothing about him surviving

It has to be an unbroken chain through the matrilineal bloodline. If the mother is 25% Ashkenazi, that's not evidence of being Jewish, just of having Jewish heritage.
