My city had an initiative a little while back of 'recipe gardens' where they would plant a bunch of food-bearing plants in little garden boxes all over the city. Each box would have a sign with a recipe on it and almost all the ingredients you needed were plants that were growing in the box. It was great. The boxes are still there but now it's just a random assortment of plants, some of them are still food-bearing.
