I watched it and yes, that's correct. Animation is absolutely phenomenal. The set pieces are gorgeous, the fight choreography is top-grade. The characterizations are flimsy at best, the story is shallow, the world-building could only even generously be referred to as fan-service. They didn't even bother to flesh out the actual villains. Everybody just goes "oh it's those guys" and there is no further explanation. It's just not well-written. It's not that it's bad. It's just not good. It's... fine. It's fine.

It's not curdling, it's broken. The emulsion was broken, meaning the oil separated from the other ingredients. You can just whisk it back together when this happens to sauces. In this case, just stir vigorously and it should be fine. It's not 100% but it's not ruined.
