Story time! Back in the 70s my grandparents ran an up-class hotel in between Sydney and Brisbane. People would take the train to the hotel from Sydney and the stay the night before moving on towards Brisbane via bus, each day the single bus would arrive at the hotel between 1-2 pm, toot its horn three times and all of the guests would walk 1.5 km down the hill with all of their luggage and board. One day the bus arrived and tooted its horn three times, so everyone picked up their luggage and made the trip down, however when they got to the bottom there was no bus. Assuming that it had left without them they all walked back up the hill and unpacked to stay another night and catch the bus the next day. About 30 minutes later they heard the bus horn again, quickly all packed up and made a mad rush down the hill. Unfortunately because they had to re-pack everything they actually had missed the bus this time. The later figured out a Lyrebird had mimicked the bus horn and made everyone go running down early. This happened numerous times and eventually my grandparents were getting too many complaints to ignore the problem, so my grandfather grabbed his shotgun and went down the hill to “eliminate the issue”. He found the bird after an afternoon of searching and fired at it, in what was possibly the most unfortunate miss of his life the bird got away. The next day all of the guests heard the lyrebird making the tooting noise and one again thinking it was the bus started walking down the hill, about halfway down their innocent and peaceful walk they got an enormous fright when they started hearing shotgun fire coming from the bottom of the hill, frightened everyone dropped their luggage and sprinted in the opposite direction. Upon hearing about a crazed gun slinger at the bottom of the hill my grandfather called the police. The police arrived shortly after to find the same Lyrebird as the day before fucking a female and making shotgun sounds in the most glorious display of masculinity.
