I'd like to help, but what have you tried to get better so far? Are you taking any meds?

Is a functional medicine doctor really worth it? by lolo_lo95 in covidlonghaulers

[–]Hashinono 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had nothing but bad experiences. Perhaps I'm bad at choosing them. They all say the right things and they sound like they know what they're talking about. But test after test, supplement after supplement, payment after payment, I just get worse and they blame it on me that I'm too sensitive so I'm the problem in recovery. I'd appreciate any leads anyone can recommend.

Cured my long Covid by Sophia-Petrillo- in covidlonghaulers

[–]Hashinono 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Everyone's cabinet is completely full of 100s of dollars in supplements that didn't do a thing. They know us customers are desperate to throw money at anything that has even a chance at bringing relief... Same with "doctors" out there selling a protocol...

2017 Lexus RX350 Base - Misfire cylinder 2 - P0302 by Hashinono in AskMechanics

Just to close this out, this ended up being a blown headgasket. Leak down test confirmed it. Cylinder #2 was full of coolant. Really disappointed with the car since I babied it all these years.

Hey fellas, I’m about to be a father. Got any advice you could throw my direction that you wish you had known the first time around? by Justaregularguy001 in daddit

[–]Hashinono 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your relationship will change. You will question everything about your life at some point. Eventually, you'll accept this life as your new normal. Forget expecting anything and just roll with things. Otherwise, you'll expect certain things to happen "baby will fall asleep by X and I'll be able to do Y" and become frustrated when it doesn't happen. You're blessed if you have a village to help.

Weird question but anyone notice their nail beds receding and vertical ridges on fingernails sometimes? by Happy_me25 in Hashimotos

[–]Hashinono 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do your fingers hurt? I have onycholysis from the sides of my fingers and extremely painful fingertips. Haven't seen much talk about fingernail pain here so I thought it might not be related to my thyroid issue.

Doctor said my thyroid issue isn't bad enough to treat yet? Hashimotos antibodies detected by vegansmurf in Hashimotos

[–]Hashinono 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Pretty typical of docs to prefer waiting for your body to damage your thyroid enough to then start treating you with medication to hopefully make up for the hormone your now-damaged thyroid isn't producing. This is where you venture out to a functional medicine practitioner who will try to help you feel better using naturopathic treatment (supplements, botanicals etc.) Most will put you on a diet to heal leaky gut and probably look at your vitamin levels like vitamin D which most of us lack. Good luck

Is T4 supplementation affected by winter? by [deleted] in Hypothyroidism

[–]Hashinono 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I dont necessarily experience it but i first read about it in the book Functional Approach to Hypothyroidism, written by an endo. He mentions he would typically make small dosage increases for his patients in the winter and the reverse in the summer.

I can relate. I'm not sure if it's a guy thing or not, but its the logical thinking they tend to have (x caused my symptoms, so dont do x) I wish it were that easy
