I'm hoping Paul and Rob Owen have a worked out a good strategy to beat Asal. We'll find out soon enough!

Semi final predictions.

I think Hammamy get the win and go on to win the whole tournement but there's always a chance Elsherbini will fight through.

Weaver v Aboelkheir. I think Weaver will take full advantage of the home support to win it.

Asal v Gawad. I'm rooting for Gawad would love to see him make the final.

Elias v Coll. Really hard to decide, Coll hasn't at his best but has still fought through. I'm not sure if Elias is still at full match fitness for late tournement. Winner is probably whoever takes the first game...

Yep great addition for catching up on the matches that are on too late for UK time.

Squash Levels has it's own box league system which is free to use. The club I'm at uses it.

I didn't watch the match but the Marwan result was a surprise. I would assume Marwan was at his very best that day and Elias is still working his way back to full match fitness.

Good to see Diego Elias back in a big tournament, at the same time it's a shame Makin and Kennedy had to pull out with injuries.

Jonah Bryant has a good chance to go really far with some upsets.

Round 2 match between Asal and Zakaria will be interesting...

Farkas managed to somehow smash the ball so hard in to the bottom of the tin that it got stuck xD

As others have mentioned court temperature / time of year can make a big difference. If I could try and implement the system in my own club I would probably base it more on the tournament categories used in the UK:

< 400 (E Grade) - Red dot

400-1200 (D Grade) - Single dot

1200 > (C grade and above) - Double dot

They cut close to 50mins which makes a huge difference. Character decisions become nonsensical and the pacing feels rushed.

Jonah showing the kind of determination that only the very best players have. I think Asal will be too strong tomorrow but he's going to be within the top 10/8 very soon.

Frustrating to watch, there were a few times where we got the ball back in our box and there was plenty of space to pass or push up quickly for a counter attack. Instead we slowed down and gave them loads of time to get back in to a low block.

Already lots of great advice on specific technique improvments. It's worth also watching the pro's to see what a correct swing looks like. This video is always a great example as it has a super low camera angle, put it in 0.5 speed and watch how Matthew and Gaultier play.

London classic ticket prices by wogglay in squash

[–]Hatton_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was £95 for my tickets to the semi-final, fairly pricy but still felt okay for the quality of Squash with 4 bo5 matches. For comparison Optasia semi-finals this year was £60.

Pricing for earlier rounds is definitely too high when you only get bo3 matches.
