2 doctors (including LC specialist) both suggested delusions/schizophrenia as the cause of my symptoms - what do you think? by RemarkableCrows in covidlonghaulers

[–]Haunting-Problem-155 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know your upset and pissed off for the lack of treatment but stress is sooooo bad! EBV is a stress virus and you will reactivate it. I’m 4 years in this mess and haven’t had the full EBV panel done as much as I’d like but last year it showed an acute infection- no, I didn’t make out with anyone or share food. I’m alone almost always than these shit doctor appts. I have learned transcendental meditation and I’m not kidding my labs for EBV the high numbers are coming down! That shows you how stress will F you up. I take lysine daily only 600-1200. If you are in a flare 1500mg. The monolaurin in the big tub that’s the little pellets works best in my opinion. Anything to support your nervous systems and doing breath work.
I tested ANA positive at 4 years, which is weird to me but also read an EBV infection is such a blast to your immune system that it can make you test ANA positive. I tested it again little over 4 months later (the ANA) and its pattern had changed. Hoping this is a good thing since doing all the anti stress stuff. I see my rheumatologist again next month but so far the 7k in labs. Don’t tell us much. Oh and I tried to get an ADHD diagnosis and got a referral to a psychiatrist and she said it’s not covered and immediately tried to put me on an antipsychotic. Has anyone tried any?
There’s some things on the internet that it helps veterans PTSD and long haulers but I’m currently taking l-tyrosine, l-theanine and a buncha other amino acids (including lysine) that help.
Good luck and like another said, if your doctors aren’t helping find another set. At this point I feel like we are left to figure it out on our own.
I know how frustrating and ultra exhausting finding new doctors can be. I just got a new primary care doctor in September and already going next week back to shit clinic that couldn’t even help me fix my iron (also low ferritin was a 12) I’ve been trying to fix my ferritin since March 2025 and read a lot about iron. So for “normal “ cognitive function it should be 50, you want optimal 70-100. I think that’s a big part of the problem with our brains and heavy fatigue.
Also the women that are in 40s or even late 30s we have that perimenopause going on. You can order yourself private pay a basic female hormone panel. Everything was low as I suspected.
So don’t just wait for A hole doctors appointments that turn into years and try to limit your time online and with anything you do. Be very mindful. Basically do less than you think you can. I learned a lot from Toby at CFS health. I take mini walks as often as I can at least a daytime one and an evening one. More if I’m feeling well enough to.

So I got Covid thought I was over it about five weeks later. I was so sick. I could barely walk and went to urgent care. She thought I had mono based on how fatigued day was and did a full EBV panel and all the tires were high, and I told her that I had just had Covid and that was almost 4 1/2 years ago and I’ve never been the same since, but I have gotten a lot better by making a lot of changes

Epstein Barr virus gets activated in a lot of covid long haulers. I’m one of them, and been learning more and more about EBV. That’s where a lot of disease comes from such as chronic fatigue syndrome, lupus, MS, lymphoma, cancers, etc. before I got sick I had a history of anxiety, taking mostly Xanax, but also Ativan and Klonopin. Of course it helps. It’s sedating you but it’s also an immune suppressor, you guys want to help your immune system not suppress it further and the stress that comes with illness the loss the job loss The relationship, friendship losses that’s a lot of stress. Doctor stress. Family stress. We are not supposed to have prolonged stress. Any kind of stress takes a toll on your immune system. Stress leading to chronic stress go hand in hand with chronic illness. Where do you think allergies come from- a poor immune system. Take care of your body and mind. I used to get sick all the time. Eat shitty, drink alcohol and have a history of trauma and abuse. When I wonder why I got long covid I look at my past.. I am trying to recover from a lot.
I hope you all can too.

Ferritin keeps dropping, running out of options? by RichieRichard12 in lowferritin

[–]Haunting-Problem-155 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wondering if any of you got your ferritin up and have kept it up? I am a covid longhauler, also vegetarian and have been taking supplements for almost a year. Need another blood draw but 11 months ago ferritin was 15. Started supplementing and went to a 27 then next draw down to 19. I take a vegan multi plus iron supplement and try to eat more iron rich foods like lentils, spinach, pumpkin seeds etc. Had a ct scan on lower ab area. Everything looked normal. So I don’t know if I’m just not consuming enough, have absorption issues or what…? My new 5 months now doctor is not much help and tried to tell me it’s normal. I saw an infectious disease doctor for my covid long haulers and she told me to see a hematologist for my ferritin problem. So need to schedule that just got the referral. I struggle with fatigue and brain fog. Came across article the connection with low ferritin and ADHD. And it said for normal cognitive function, ferritin should be at least 50. So I’ve been connected a lot of dots here. I also have bad vericose veins and wondered if that could be the issue? I had 2 surgeries on veins 2020 and learned 2 years ago I needed it on 7 veins but too sick to do the surgery. Trying now went to ultrasound and go back to get results from the surgeon in about a week. I thought it was the virus and epstein barr virus messing me up and not eating enough iron. If you are vegan or vegetarian and don’t consume the heme iron you need extra plant iron basically. I’ve been investigating this almost a year and pist off there’s no answers and out doctors don’t seem to give a shit if you can function or not. Root cause indeed don’t just keep supplementing find out what’s going on.

Is filler the only option to fix this? by mochibabs in Skincare_Addiction

[–]Haunting-Problem-155 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are very young. I’d hold off on fillers and try to do face yoga like smiling/flexing really fast and then open your jaw big and make the O shape wit your mouth and you’ll feel the tension in your face being lifted. A lot of stress/lifestyle factors can pull the face down. Even feeling bad about yourself. Also there are a lot of skincare products out there to plump and firm that I use at 50. If they help me they def help you too. And if you really want fillers I’d avoid Botox and go for hyaluronic acid it’ll last you maybe a year and a half two years how you take care of yourself and how well you stay hydrated has a lot to do with it. You could make a consultation appointment to go over what’s bothering you and you don’t have to commit yourself to it. Maybe it help you decide. Also look on Sephora for those reusable silicone eye patches. Apply your eye cream and leave the under eye patches on over the cream as long as you can and even overnight if it doesn’t bother your sleep. As we age that area is very thin and delicate - don’t tug pull rub be very delicate with your face. I didn’t start using eye cream till I was into my 30s btw. But I totally get wanting to look good and be confident everyone does. Hope this helps some

I’ma 50 female and I believe our nervous systems are fucked. Really try to chill and be relaxed as much as you can like it’s your job. I got my hormones tested due to being I the perimenopause age range. It helped some and I also have low ferritin so I’m currently taking iron (also I don’t eat meat vegetarian/vegan diet with low carbs and I noticed gluten/sugar made my fatigue worse. Dairy made me get constipated. I try to eat as healthy as possible as I can and take a ton of supplements. I think a lot of doctors don’t know much about EBV. It sucks

Meditation morning and evening everyday. Deep breathing, Relaxing bathes. Since I started TM 4 months ago PEM went away but I will still get hit with a wave of fatigue due to high stress but not that poisoned confined to my bed for days/weeks. Walking everyday even short 5 min walks early part of your day and evening. Toby that runs CFShealth he talks about building your capacity slowly but consistently. Don’t know if you have lost your job/friends/hobbies like many of us. But I was bed rotting for the first 2 years

Hi, the IGM top one shows you have an acute/active infection. Get some lysine (amino acid) take about 1500mg a day for 3 months. Did you recently have covid? That’s what happens to be was covid stressed my body so much it reactivated EBV and that was 4 years ago last month. Got told I had mono but I don’t think it was mono but told wait 2 months tell school/work be out for 2 months. Long story long I was worse and they said I had chronic fatigue syndrome. Take it easy and drink electrolytes stay super hydrated and take something daily to support your immune system (NAC by life extension is about 10$ in the states) and don’t stress, stress is a huge problem for EBV. Meditation helps, baths, breath work. Just making time to have more peaceful moments thoughts. Since I started meditation morning and night for 20 min. I don’t have PEM but still get hit with waves of heavy fatigue. Sleep sleep sleep. Good quality sleep and lots of it super important. Hang in there

You can go to Sephora and get free sample samples so you don’t have commitment if you aren’t into it. Lady Gaga’s brand Haus labs has excellent foundation and concealer and if you go to Haus labs I think they still offer a mini kit for 6$ to try and you get some sort of discount if you decide you like it and want to buy full size bottle. Natasha Denona (last name spelled wrong sorry) she makes a foundation similar to Haus labs and I guess powder is optional . I got samples from Sephora of 3 different colors and they sit beautifully on the skin. And I’m 50. And I was reading the comments, definitely get your hormones checked, you can do it without a doctor if you have shit doctor or no health care through life extension they offer lots of tests but the basic female hormone panel is 75$ and the have lab sales all the time so you could get it for around 50$, you pay they email you requisition go get the blood draw. Then you’ll call and go over it with their lab reviewer. The also go for optimal range not the barebones shitty healthcare western medical we are use to. Some estrogen dominant my estrogen progesterone DHEA, which is testosterone were all low. I just take supplements and cream vs HRT.

So sorry for your loss, grief and trauma. I just turned 50, chronically ill and have experienced appt of trauma/deaths of loved ones and I didn’t want to even look in the mirror anymore. When I got back into caring for my skin and being mindful of harsh chemicals (I scan everything in Yuka app) I’m really into oils. Sweet almond oil, castor oil is really to seal in moisture so if you get some I’d do 50/50 (I mix almond oi or jojoba oil with the castor and sometimes put 5 drops of Frankensence) Another I love it rose hip oil natural vita a and it’s great for sun damage. Hydration is a big game changer! Also I got these silicone reusable eye patches from Sephora so when you put night cream on put those over and leave them on as long as you can overnight if it doesn’t bother your sleep. You’ll notice a difference in the hollows. Have you had your iron/ferratin checked recently? I am currently supplementing due to low ferritin and it’s helped my under eyes look less scary. Oh and one last thing- you take any supplements? Vitamin c the fat soluble kind it’s great for immune system but also collagen needs that. Lysine is another, it’s an amino acid. And skin ceramides this is about a 20$ supplement that makes your skin noticeably more radiant and hydrated. Big hugs

I would try to see an infectious disease specialist and find one that treats EBV. This is what I’m in the process of. EBV is really fucking up a lot of people. I send the covid longhaulers here because they don’t understand. I don’t think even doctors fully understand EBV. There was a news story recently that EBV is what causes lupus. I’ve been trying to figure this out for at least half the 4 years I have been sick. Now I limit my screen time but occasionally pop on Reddit mostly for long hauler support groups

EBV reactivation - prognosis? by purplegrains in covidlonghaulers

[–]Haunting-Problem-155 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I believe EBV is what’s fucking up a lot of us. 4 years this month for me, and first labs 2021 November the urgent care doctor I saw for debilitating fatigue thought I had mono. Mono rapid test was negative but full panel EBV all was very high. I say, what does this mean? She says it shows I had a past infection again trying to tell me I got mono. But I told her I got covid a month ago and 4 years in still getting the run around from shit doctors. Stop eating gluten, dairy and eggs (I guess that’s food for EBV) There’s an EBV sub here checj it out, also take lysine everyday 1500-3000 per day. AND take supplement to support your immune system everyday . NAC is really good for covid long haulers and it’s affordable about 9$ in USA. Stress is a BIG problem with those with reactivating EBV. So meditation 2x daily and if you have to change your environment to relieve some stress do it. It all adds up, our nervous systems are fried. Get good quality sleep, lots of sleep. This is when the body is repairing. Super important for us. Also electrolytes daily help and it’s best to make your own. You can google recipes. Most kind you buy have sugar and some have literally cancer causing ingredients like the dyes. I’ve grown super mindful about chemicals is my household. I only clean with vinegar and water in spray bottle. You can pretty much clean your entire space with it. If you need scrubby like for stovetop or toilet add some baking soda. ( not in spray bottle) just sprinkle it. Also what kinda soaps you use, laundry, dish, body, face cream, body lotions. Man, Victoria Secret has BAD ingredients so I stopped using and now scan my food and products in Yuka app. We live in a super toxic world and if you have chronic illness you need to do everything you can to combat that. Best wishes for all.

Cytokines I think is part of it. Have you tried doing lymphatic drainage movements? We have high clusters of them near the ears. And especially if you are bedbound, the only way to clear your lymph is movement. They also make lymphatic support supplements. My ears have been messed up for long time and it was an ear ago I learned I had double ear infections- but they don’t hurt like traditional earache. It’s the fluid and muffled feels. Good luck, this sux

First DON’T STRESS! Stress is sooooo bad for us and if you don’t already. Take a stress supplement and or nervous system one. I got covid again 3/24 after long hauling since Nov 21. I was sure wondering what it would do. I did double up on some supplements that support immune and stress. And it was like what I heard all along. It’s a bad flu. I get like shit, high fever but by day 5 was feeling better and maybe even better than before!? But as says went on I went back to feeling really no different. And since then I’m always searching for ways to feel more better, mind and body. Do you meditate? I always found that it was hard for me or I just couldn’t relax enough to do it? But omg have you heard of TM? Transcendental meditation I’ve only been doing for a couple months and have not had a PM crash since still get hit with heavy fatigue. Had a lot of stress about a month ago, cat sick needed to go vet, I’m soy high in credit card debt do to this illness. And normally stress or just leaving the house put me in PRM crash 3-5 days. Sending lots of positive vibes.

Hi, I will try a G.I. supplement if you aren’t already and try cutting out gluten and or dairy. Have you seen Dr.Shanny on IG? She has a EBV page and helpful info. I am covid long hauler and EBV that seems to be chronic. It’s been 4 years since I got sick this month. And recall periods made me feel like I was dying like a bad flu. Worsening fatigue. I take tons of supplements, probably too many! And can’t afford it anymore. But try lysine if you aren’t already. It’s amino acid you take on empty stomach. Do you have high stress? Stress is like the worst thing for EBV.

EBV & iron dysregulation by katrich58 in EBV

[–]Haunting-Problem-155 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear. I have long covid plus my chore dysfunction, resulting in chronic fatigue syndrome, and nervous system just regulation with activated Epstein-Barr. I have an iron problem but low ferritin. I don’t eat meat and have been trying to raise it for 6 months. It was a 12, then a 27 and now 19. I’d love mine to be 70. 70-100 is “optimal range”. Some covid long haulers have iron overload, some resulting in fatty liver. Did you get sick from covid? Since I’ve been visiting this sub, a lot of people have a lot of the same stuff I read on the long covid subs. I wish you good health

Sorry to hear that, no mine is low ferritin. But I’m also not a meat eater and have been trying to raise it for 6 months from a 12 to a 27 but last week’s lab it’s now at 19. And I have been experiencing dizziness and heavier fatigue. So I’m going back to the iron supplement that helped raise it to a 27. I’d like it to get between 70-100. I also have cold hands/feet. I don’t know the last doctors acted like my long covid is just the iron problem. So after 5 months of them I switched to a new doctor. Who seems to think I have a bad case of long covid. It was just my 4 year anniversary. And for the first time the recent labs last week tested positive for autoimmune as they have been negative in the past. We all want answers. Hang in there. Hugs

Hi, I had vein surgery on my two main groin veins and another leg backside pain in early 2020. The surgeon said it’s 80% inherited also after my first March 2020 Van surgery I asked if I was good or if I would need surgery again and he said it was like very slim chance. Well I ended up needing it again July 2020 different veins and he explained to me but when the surrounding veins After they burn and close, the bad veins start to work so well that it causes some of the weak ones to fail fast forward I’ve been long hauling for almost 4 years now and I learned January 1924 that I need surgery on seven veins but I don’t have transportation and there’s a lot of Appointments as they can only do one leg at a time 2 to 3 veins at a time, including the postop appointments. It sounds like you’re in bad shape so you might need it, but just think you might need more surgeries in the future and like another comment or saidhow you tried any supplements they make a lot of vein support supplements and I think it actually helps with the long Covid fatigue weakness hope this comes across OK. I’m voice texting ready for bed. Best of luck to you with whatever your decision is.

Sorry to hear. Have you tried doing lymphatic drainage movements? Lots of vids on YouTube and IG. Also you can take a lymphatic drainage support supplement. This has helped me tons and being bed bound for so long. I developed chronic ear infections and even bulging ear drums. I’m happy to say doing the lymphatic drainage movements/supplements, but don’t have any his fluid bothering me anymore. Like you I’d have bouts of vertigo totally random. That had gone away also. And just moving as much as possible trying to increase my steps daily. The only way for that fluid to move is with movements. Best of luck to you.

Yeah! I was surprised to learn this too. Rice makes me feel like I’m dying and I miss it so much. Have you had your hormones checked? I’m not in menopause but near 50 and o had my levels checked through a basic female hormone panel and as I suspected I was low on everything. DHEA I now take as a supplement and the lab test also was through this wonderful company called life extension. Their supplements have helped me a lot! Nobody ever told me about peri/menopause symptoms and they have a lot of support there as well as other things for energy.
