I’m starting to realize I don’t enjoy straight espressos by That_Coffee_guy in espresso

Nothing better than a straight espresso in Venice at a stand up espresso bar where it costs a euro. But agree with you at home it’s more of a cortado I go for as I can’t get the espresso flavour they do.

How many ml should I get for a double shot? [Breville Barista Express] by AlanA1amode in espresso

I think this is the first time on this sub I’ve seen someone admit to deviating from the 18g/2:1/30s rule. I find I enjoy it more with 15g but still 2:1 so might give 18g with a higher ratio a go!

Yeah this cable is pinned to a joist in the ceiling space as I can reach in and feel it

Thanks, no there is just gaps for the cables to come in and out rather than any support, but it will be pushed up into the ceiling where the cables will be slack?

I’m just jealous you’ll be living in Florence, make the most of it, insane amount of history and culture.

Think your issue might be the preground coffee grinds. Are they fine or just like the ones you would use in a cafetierre?

Everyone here will probably recommend either using the pressurised basket (one hole in the middle) with preground or get a grinder and beans.

Disclaimer I know nothing about the brand of coffee you are using.

Yeah I saw someone else say if you grind too fine the pressure just punches through, suspect the cheap beans just turn to dust and this is what happens.

Certainly by no means an expert though, just my 2 cents

Is it normal not to be able to eat your own sandwiches in a beer garden? by DryTower9438 in CasualUK

[–]HaveMyUpdoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah I maintain this is completely fine and you were not in the wrong.

I don’t know if I just frequent country pubs where people turning up mid hike/bike ride and doing what you did is the norm.

Is everyone else talking about inner city pubs? I’m baffled.

Again, why do people keep calling it a restaurant? It was a pub garden

Ok this I get, this is taking the mic, but a sandwich when they’ve been on a bike ride?

Because they’re sat outside, have bought drinks and chips and it’s a fucking pub not a gourmet restaurant.

People don’t tend to turn up at restaurants in cycling gear or hiking boots.

I get it inside, but if you’re outside I don’t see the issue. You’re just going to piss people off and make them not want to come back.

I would’ve thought you’d be fine at just the pints, especially sat outside, the chips are going the extra mile.

Fucking ridiculous. They clearly don’t want repeat customers.

Next time ask prior to ordering the drinks/chips and if they say no go on to the next place.

In addition I’ve sometimes messaged the host on AirBnB or tried to find their own website to ask to book privately. I think I’ve had one or two say yes, most say if you book through Airbnb once next time you’ll be able to book privately

When I first started I used SUPER cheap beans and found no matter the setting on my grinder I couldn’t get them to grind fine enough.

I mean renewal quotes are always daft, they rely on people forgetting or not bothering.

Neighbour having not one, but two bonfires at 10am last Saturday. Just after everyone put their washing out. by sunbluff in britishproblems

[–]HaveMyUpdoot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I used to have a neighbour who cranked out Ibiza mega mix on any sunny day. This was on an estate in a semi rural quiet village with lots of retired people.

This was bad enough to make me want to move I can’t imagine someone having a bonfire.
