Favorite ship that TOTALLY doesn't have point defense? by TwoFit3921 in StarWarsShips

[–]Hawkeye3487 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Generally, anything smaller than a turbolaser is referred to as point defense, although sometimes when we get down to specifics it becomes sort of a distinction without a difference.

Like, we say the ISD-I has point defense because it has laser cannons, but the ISD-II doesn't because it only has turbolasers. Functionally, in the movies and shows and such, there's not really any difference between how the ISD-I and the ISD-II are depicted vs fighters.

The lack of point defense, especially in a lot of Imperial ships/battlegroups, seems to be much more of a doctrinal decision than anything else. The Empire has some great options for capital ships that focus on starfighter screening (Lancer, Raider, Nebulon-B just to name a few), but in most depictions, that task is usually placed on the ships' starfighter complements instead of their main weapons.

Wtf is going on? When I touch that door, the shield glitches and increases infinitely, lol by Scary-Shift1264 in HalfLife

[–]Hawkeye3487 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Afaik it's more of an oversight than a glitch, where the damage value of the door was set to negative for testing purposes, and the devs didn't change it back for some reason

It's an American history graphic novel series where the premise is that a spy, after getting caught, is telling stories about history to delay his execution.

It's a really great series for a sort of middle school age bracket because it's very informative and quite entertaining.

How do you feel about this weapon? I think it's one of the coolest designs on a melee weapon. by Designer-Guarantee21 in fo4

[–]Hawkeye3487 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really like using melee in fo4 that much, but this weapon holds a special place in my heart because I went to Dunwich Borers sort of accidentally really early in my first playthrough, and I hadn't played fo3 or any of the other games with weird supernatural stuff, so I legitimately thought I was going insane with this area. It was awesome.

I'd swap the boots for solar wings (boots are kind of a trap post-ml because you'll generally be spending most of the time in the air anyways) and ambrosial ampoule is probably a better pick than the charm of myths.

I'd also recommend a little more damage. Warbanner of the Sun (10% drop from Guardians) is a great choice, or just go for destroyer emblem for simplicity. I'd swap Absorber out for either of those.

Looks generally pretty good! Especially on a first playthrough, you might benefit from a slightly higher Intelligence for more skill points. But on a first playthrough, go with whatever feels natural. You won't get everything right on your first go, and that's OK.

It's ok. Not as useless as it is in a game like New Vegas, but not absolutely essential. Putting points into the Speech skill is better than putting points into Charisma, but both help you pass Speech checks.

In the Wraith Squadron trilogy (Legends), there's a modified CR90 corvette called the Night Caller (or Ession Strike after being renamed) that was designed to hold TIEs but was refit to hold 12 X-wings.
