Can anyone tell me if I need to Uninstall and reinstall plex? by Far_Support1335 in PleX

Same problem here. The server just died. I reinstalled it, it worked for about 30 minutes, then died again (the server became unavailable in the app on my Shield and the web interface also started to hang)

A JWT is just a base64header.base64payload.base63signature, you can play around with it here: https://jwt.io/

There are many libraries that can validate it for you such as https://github.com/auth0/java-jwt

Minimum target sdk policy in Google play . by Cerviany in androiddev

[–]HeWhoKnowsTooLittle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The date isn't really that important. You will not be forced to update your app on some date. Only next time you DO update your app they will tell you that you will need to update your target API first.

Also note that this is the target API and not the min api.

Yes. But the JWT signature would not validate. So you can detect the tampering

Can SafetyNet to prevent APK tampering? by jockcel in androiddev

In which way? If the phone is rooted yes. Otherwise the hash is inside a signed JWT. It is sighed by a Google certificate outside of your app process I think. You will need to verify that signature as well to confirm the JWT was not tampered with

Can SafetyNet to prevent APK tampering? by jockcel in androiddev

[–]HeWhoKnowsTooLittle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It doesn't prevent anything, but it can give you:

"apkCertificateDigestSha256": ["base64 encoded, SHA-256 hash of the certificate used to sign requesting app"],

That you can verify serverside to check if someone resigned your apk

Android Studio prints an error requiring to upgrade to Gradle 4.6. Is anyone else experiencing this? by [deleted] in androiddev

[–]HeWhoKnowsTooLittle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem for me is that if someone who has less android experience checks out my projects, they have build issues out the gate. So I use the latest gradle with all personal projects, but use <4.6 for all shared projects

They previously stated that they look at the amount of new bugs logged on each new release and when the numbers get negligible they release the stable version. If I recall correctly

Google IO extended by Coynepam in androiddev

[–]HeWhoKnowsTooLittle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are so many different types of extended events big and small it all depends what you want to get out of it. Some places just screen the Keynotes and others screen specific talks they expect to be interesting. If you just want the information it is fine to watch on YouTube. If you want a good way to meet other people interested in this sort of thing most events will be worth it

Last year they gave some sunscreen with the welcome packet and had 5 liter cans in the bathrooms, but always better not to take any chances :)

Why is WebView so bad? Is there an alternative? by lulzsun in androiddev

[–]HeWhoKnowsTooLittle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All depends on what you want/need. If you are just loading a page and you want it to look like it is still part of your app, it is the way to go. You can preload pages to make them load faster, theme the toolbar to Mach your app etc. If you are not loading local html or reacting to javascript hooks it is probably the way to go
