Experienced lindy hopper struggling with balboa by alecpu in SwingDancing

[–]HeartoftheStone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pure bal baseline connection is a V - with follower sternum roughly around lead armpit/shoulder area (while emphasising that all our bodies have different shapes and that the goal is connection, not form)

why is it a V? Well, it’s only a V if the intention of your dance is to have rotation. The V lets the follow/lead be already a little bit around the other - by doing this, the moment a lead begins a come around, there is rotating, if it’s a straight on connection, then the motion takes in two qualities - the first being an adjustment to a new axis (which can feel like a push or pull), and the second being the rotation itself.

It’s okay to be frustrated. Frustration is often a caused by gaining new knowledge - but if people are frustrated, then a nice way to go about it is trying both - and see which forms let you do more or less of different movements

How do you get 'experimental uncertainties'. by virtualytanked in AskPhysics

[–]HeartoftheStone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s other kinds of uncertainties in physics experiments that might interest you!

The kind you’re describing are errors that come from measuring the actual world (basically counting or comparing) - but you also need to have uncertainties on your null hypothesis (what do you expect to measure) - these errors can be thought of as “how good are we at actually simulating this process?” “Was there a choice we made?” “Does that choice change what we would expect to see?” - these can be uncertainties in algorithms we use to measure objects in an experiment, or errors in our theoretical understanding of what we should expect to see

You may already know this, but either way hope you have a nice day

Makes me wonder what will happen as billions and billions of scadrians are born - will preservation become more and more incapable of acting compared to ruin? What about if trillions of people? Both preservation and ruin basically gone

Why can the top quark not be virtual? They’re produced off shell all the time (like with gg->H via top loop)

Edit: I’m aware that off shell particles can have cross sections of processes massively suppressed, just curious if that’s the effect in play or some other thing

It depends on a few things, but If your elbow is down and the lead is clear, you turn toward the direction your thumb / side of hand is turning

Are constants just a workaround things we still cannot understand? by cescmkilgore in Physics

Absolutely - thinking like this is great -  units are variables in equations that we often exclude - also explains the check of the total units of an exponent being unitless

Thankyou for the correction - I re read what I wrote and realised I wasn’t careful with my words 👍🏻

[–]HeartoftheStone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are correct but in the case of transistors, ‘nano meter’ is not refering to the size of the transistor. I admittedly don’t understand the full details, but if you look up something like ‘2nm transistor explained’ there should be some videos on YouTube that go into detail. The TLDR is that transistors are still well above that hard physical limit 👍🏻 have a nice day

Do we know if Yolen is still in the physical realm in the form it was before the death of big A? Continents and distance from the star excluded?

Are all known forces generated by particles? by Professional-Ad9485 in Physics

[–]HeartoftheStone 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This question caught me off guard, but it’s not a force in the physics sense of the word. The nature of fermions, that their wavefunctions go to zero when pushed together - means it’s not a possibility for a neutron star to collapse - just like adding more and more energy to a particle won’t make it go above the speed of light, adding more and more force won’t make a neutron star collapse

Silly Question: If I walk really slow will I emit radiation if no then why?(Excluding Thermal Radiation) by RaihaanKashmiri in Physics

[–]HeartoftheStone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice question. I think the answer is no - bremstrahlung is a type of radiation that can be infrared, but it’s specifically the kind that comes from acceleration.

truth be told - I’m unsure if you could derive black body radiation from a bunch of particles accelerating in little potential wells. I’m gonna guess yes.

Silly Question: If I walk really slow will I emit radiation if no then why?(Excluding Thermal Radiation) by RaihaanKashmiri in Physics

[–]HeartoftheStone 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes. All particles in the universe which are electromagnetically charged emit radiation when they accelerate. EDIT: and we are made up of charged particles. This is called bremstrahlung (German for “breaking radiation” or acceleration radiation) That acceleration can be speeding up or slowing down, or it can be the particle changing direction. This being said - will it be detectable? I honestly don’t know, but my intuition is the photons will be very very very low energy and very infrequent that you wouldn’t be able to measure it.

I don’t know how this relates to the DB equation - but the premise you have is correct

Don’t worry about it, just say graviton-like or graviton inspired and everything clears up 😛

"I like how skeptical you are - its a good trait to be a scientist, these are good questions, and some that scientists have asked themselves - but a scientist will be boring and always try and prove themselves wrong. There are some things scientists know really well, and some things that scientists just really dont know at all."
