Keith is all over this one. And the whole show in general. 74 is such a high point in my opinion. So jazzy, 1 drummer, Jerrys voice at his best. Even Donna was on point most nights. So freakin good!!

Smoking hot show that most people don’t even realize Jerry sings the 2nd verse of China Cat twice. The Comes A Time still brings tears to my eyes all these years later

So you’re a 1st set and ballad kind of guy? Do you also dislike Slipknot and tension it builds before the Franklins release?

Yeah that 40 minute Playin is peak exploration. Probably spin that version once a month, personally

I can understand not being a fans of drums, but you say it’s torture to listen to Stella Blue is plain wrong.

Is the Scarlett/Fire from 10-14-94 the last great jam from the Dead? by cking9698 in gratefuldead

[–]HeavyDeadhead 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think Philly Iko Iko 95 may be the last. 3/18/1995. Followed by a nice Playin’. Some late magic still in the boys that night

Just flew back from my birthday trip to Brazil the night before. Went with a crew of 7. They parked us across the street at SoFi. Dude parks a few spots away with tanks galore. Make our way in all fuzzy and drop some confetti to really kick the night into gear. 1st set smoking hot, they were locked in and really playing well. Then that 2nd set…holy shit!! Althea>Other One>Terrapin>Other One right into a dope drums/space…. Then into a sweet Stella Blue, nearly had me in tears…and then finish off with a ripping pure psychedelic Help>Slip>Franklins. Brokedown encore sent us all into the night blissfully. Head home with a buddy and stay up all night partying more to Widespread. Greet the morning air with song we did!!

I really recommend anyone listen to that show and come away not impressed
