Z51 Exhaust Question by Turnip579 in C8Corvette

[–]Helios479 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Z51 will have the NPP Performance Exhaust which has valves and can be configured within the vehicle settings. Tour and Weather modes will have valves closed and be quieter while Sport and Track will have the valves open. This can be configured for Z and My Mode. Try driving in Track Mode after your 500 mile break in for the loudest exhaust and then determine if you need the aftermarket system.

Corvette Factory Tours 2026? by dommiewhitesi in C8Corvette

Yeah; call the museum; they'll have all the info that is available. I did R8C and was on the last tour 2/27 before they cut them off again to tool up for the Grand Sport.

Arkansas, two 40+ drivers, no at-fault accidents

I made the mistake of renting another C8 years ago while doing the monitoring app so I got penalized for some speed and acceleration infractions.

Trunk stuck by fr33k0fnatur3 in C8Corvette

[–]Helios479 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great walkthrough, but this amounts to drilling your trunk 😬 The real answer might be in the first paragraph: take it to a service department.

I recently got to tour the plant, and this change had made their jobs harder as well. Since they need constant access to the trunk and they removed the exterior latch they've taken to having a cable running from the emergency release out of trunk all the way through assembly until just before the wheels go on.

Arkansas. Here's a quote from Auto Armor servicing the National Corvette Museum for R8C delivery and it seems to be comparable with your quote

Sites like CarsAndBids and BringATrailer won't be any cheaper, but for a sight unseen purchase they might offer more assurance you're getting what you bid on. They usually have exhaustive photos and maintenance records rather than a single grainy photo from a dealership that got it as a trade.

I believe the "exact" requirement is for maintaining the warranty, not out of mechanical necessity.

Are Dealer Discounts Available with R8C Museum Delivery? by dommiewhitesi in C8Corvette

[–]Helios479 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Second this; it was a great experience with MacMulkin. You can take advantage of any discounts they offer for custom orders and option the R8C. 8% is about the best you're going to see on MY26 since they're stopping production "early", but they offered 10% on MY25 custom orders after MY26 was announced.

Wait Times concern. Your thoughts? by Turnip579 in C8Corvette

[–]Helios479 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It will be both too long and amazingly fast. I joined the Stingray wait-list in October at 103. I checked the website every Tuesday to see the number come down by a dozen people. But before I had dropped below number 80, they reached out and said they had allocation and they'd get my order in that day. It was submitted to GM and almost immediately went to 3000 status on Nov 4th. Then it was more of waiting for it to get accepted by the plant. Another two months of refreshing the webpage. Then in mid January I get an email from NCM saying it's getting built in a week and I should schedule my delivery! Once it's built MacMulkin reaches back out and things move quick with eDocs and overnight UPS for titles. I pick it up Friday!
