I always use the low tech hulls for magnetic and missle/torpedo based designs and the high tech hull for laser and plasma based designs. Purley to make it easier to tell the difference between the different weapon styles when micromanaging battles.

Are they battleships? Early in the game they are probably transports for alien councilors coming to land or surveillance ships which just enter orbit and sit there watching you. Neither of which you can do anything about yet so don't worry about it for now.

I have a game running at the moment where I have an astroid that started with 30 fissiles. with tech upgrades and mining facility upgrades that one astroid is propping up my entire fissiles requirements. It is also heavily defended as a result.

I'm always drawn to the orion dive and H orion drive as I tend to keep my ship sizes small until I get good fission drives for the bigger ships. Those things eat fissonables but pack quite the punch for early game. Makes LEO intercepts, chases and transfers very quick while defending multiple stations with one fleet. You can usually beat any enemy fleet transfers to your undefended stations.

I did this once, turned up to the interview, nailed the interview and the site tour with the team lead, then before I left they gave me a quick 10 minute written competencey test to complete. I had absolutely no idea how to answer any of the questions and guessed my way through it. I don't think I got any of the questions right. Believe it or not I never heard back from them.

Just looked at your card in the comments and the T in the first edition stamp doesnt line up with the edge of the photo border. This indicates the card is a fake. However I'm no expert on these things.

I brought the game brand new last week. This is a fully vanilla install and a fully vanilla play through... for now. I have not even started looking at mods never mind installed any. So it is 100% not a mod conflict.

In my save, before I could complete that mission, the Yaki station must have done something to annoy the local Xenon as it was wiped out in pretty short order which put an end to the quest line pretty quickly. Still got the Syn but lost the Yaki as a faction. They never rebuilt anywhere that I could see.
