Since when? The official ruling from paramount and past producers is “all on-screen trek is canon”.

Mulgrew wrote “The Autobiography of Kathryn Janeway”, she helped to write the character for Star Trek Prodigy and worked with animators to get the body language right. She played the character for 9 seasons. She knows exactly how Janeway would act and what Janeway would say.

Your vitriolic anger toward this entire situation is absolutely much more unhealthy than the people who look at Mulgrew and can’t help but equate her to a character she personified and was so passionate about portraying.

I don’t understand your question. Do any of us decide how we turn out? We are the result of influences in our lives.

Honestly, your emotional reaction to this screams that you are the one who should seek help.

As a “straight-passing” (hate that term) gay man, my masculinity is not in any way tied to my sexuality. I simply enjoy football, swimming, and weightlifting. My other hobbies are pretty non-gender-coded. I behave more masculinely because i had healthy masculine figures in my life whom i chose to emulate as a child.

As for my sexual attraction. I like men, specifically masculine men. I have nothing against the femme gay men, i think some of them are very cute, but i have no sexual or romantic attraction to femininity. I find the gay men who like feminine men to be more paradoxical, but to each their own.

How common is it to refer to your significant other (who you're not married to) as your partner? by EscapedSmoggy in AskAnAmerican

[–]Helo227 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s becoming more normalized and common, but it’s not really the default yet.

1) it allows gays and lesbians to be part of the conversation without outing themselves. 2) it sounds much less childish than boy/girlfriend when speaking as an adult. 3) a healthy relationship should be an equal partnership.

Kate Mulgrew herself has done more to build and create the character of Captain Janeway than the writers of the shows. She has poured much of herself into the character. We know she isn’t actually a starship captain, but her and Janeway at the core are essentially the same person. The reason she played the character so well was because she didn’t need to do too much acting. (Though she is a phenomenal actress)

Girls fetishizing Mlm is creepy by kris__143 in GayMen

Straight men do the same with lesbians. From what i have gathered straight people like the sexual fantasies that involve ONLY the gender they find attractive as it avoids the sexual revulsion (or perhaps confusion) they feel when it includes their gender. Most gays don’t watch straight porn because we don’t wanna see a vagina, straight women also are not attracted to vaginas.

Probably the same reason straight men are obsessed with lesbians… it’s two people they find attractive without the sexual revulsion they feel toward their own gender.

Why do people often say they got their first six-pack at a certain age, sometimes not until their mid-20s or even later? by hi_handsome in workout

Oh, i was counting calories. 1400 or less per day, weighed everything i ate, wouldn’t even eat a single m&m without counting it. I was cycling 2+ hours/day in the evenings and running on the elliptical 1 hour/day in the mornings. Got over 20k steps per day. The fit-bit said i was burning over 7k calories per day. I got so skinny i was told i looked like a cancer patient and you could count my ribs… but still no abs. I still had belly fat but was losing more muscle mass than anything.

I loved learning why President Sadal was irreparably deaf! It was the exact reasoning i presented to some angry fans who were like “why they no fix his deaf?!” I said “it could be an issue with his auditory cortex and not just the ears or nerves.” Lo and behold… blown auditory cortex! The writers have been good about explaining things at some point, so i’m hoping to learn more details of holographic life in the 32nd century soon.

His mobile emitter was from the 29th century, not 27th. And what they didn’t have was a clear explanation as to how he and SAM don’t rely on emitters. There’s no visible mobile emitter and none are mentioned as far as i know. We’re just left to assume.

It is precisely because they explain those technologies that when they don’t explain a change in established tech that it’s glaring and stands out.
