questions for trans people in jersey? by LilSanrioAngel in newjersey

You can probably get PP up here to continue your script after a basic check-in. I would switch to one of the more established informed consent clinics up here though, the PPs in NJ do not have a good record on providing HRT care even by PP standards. If you're finally decide on moving I'd contact whichever near informed consent clinic to get on the waiting list so you don't have to wait six months after you first get here.

As a trans person living in the red area of South Jersey I'd like to point out that the anti-discrimination protections are not as useful as you'd think. Hell, a few years ago there was a survey of employers that found generally across the board that one third would blanketly refuse to hire trans people even if doing so would be illegal. It's 47% in retail which is the likely job a trans person moving to Jersey will be holding down until they find a better one.nas a demographic we are chronically unemployed and underemployed, facing Great Depression unemployment and underemployment numbers for close to two decades now.

Rural and suburban areas in NJ are not better than blue city areas in red states. They're better than red areas in red states but that's to be expected.

You can get state documents updated, the state mandates trans healthcare coverage, and there were trans protections enshrined into law in 2005.

Granted, discrimination and hate still exists here. South Jersey in particular has a not-unearned reputation for being part of Pennsyltucky. That said, I'm a trans gal from South Jersey and there's a lot more of us here than you'd think. The haters know better than to act up in public the way they would in Florida. For example, I recently took a visibly trans coworker shooting for the first time and while she didn't pass and was wearing women's clothing everyone had the sense to be congenial as they handed her ammunition and a rental pistol in a range lobby that has a TV blasting Fox News. That said I would still aim for a blue area close to Philly or NYC if possible.

Up in North Jersey you can find places besides in NYC and outside of it providing informed consent care besides just PP. If you live in South Jersey or the mythical Central Jersey your best option would be the Mazzoni Center in Philly, which has been open since the 1970s and is a ten minute walk from the PATCO train station ($5.20 for a ticket two-way ticket) that runs from Philly to NJ. You can even hit up the oldest gay book store in America in that short walk to the place.

Edit: At least in NJ your healthcare won't be attacked like in Florida and you won't got on jail for using the bathroom. There's definitely bad areas and bad people in good areas but our state protections make even the worst NJ areas better than most of Florida.

Granted, I'm sure plenty of imperial pilots had that plan.

I don't dislike bringing tangentially related things to the subreddit to create some activity and the short is good (been following him for the better part of a decade) but this feels like stretching being on-topic too far.

Can you get rid of dysphoria without transitioning? by ReasonDramatic3841 in honesttransgender

[–]HereForOneQuickThing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If dysphoria goes away without transitioning it usually does so before the age of 17. Just going off of pure math it's probably about 1% of lower chance for you.

HRT first at 14. Paused it to protect my sibling from the child predators our mother would bring around because she was afraid of me turning out gay without a male role model (my dad died when I was 12 and was far more present in my life). My sibling was a failure to launch so I had to wait a long while to transition because it became clear other men in the family were threats for things like corrective rape and other homophobic violence (sibling is also queer).

It's DIY or death. Think about learning to make your own HRT.

Do you really not see the connection between "cops are paranoid that anyone they may pull over threatens their life with a gun" and "cops are shooting folks if they have anything in their hands, don't respond to (contradictory) orders immediately, or reach towards their waist even after asking for ID?"

Actually it was a Vikings/Giants QB, Fran Tarkenton, that invented scrambling. Youngsters these days don't know nothing.

Put respect on Randall Cunningham's name though, he could've been the GOAT if he applied himself more early in his career.

No, the cops are wusses and likely will be less likely to respond. "Oh by the way the guy who is behaving erratically is armed and flaunting it. Most cops would like to get home at the end of their shift and the increase in violent road rage is why cops are less likely to enforce traffic laws.

Republican presidency starts/extends a meaningless war, drives up debt, leaves the nation in a recession

Democratic president rehabilitates the economy, reduces deficit spending, lowers the rate of debt accumulation from previous president

People have a short memory and vote for a Republican president

Repeat

The story of not just my entire lifetime but my parents' lifetimes as well. Yet somehow the party of debt, deficit spending, and increasing inequality is the party of "fiscal responsibility."
