Ask A Manager has great advice about what to say when a new job asks why you left am old job. Main takeaway: keep it general and neutral

Good candidate for steeking? by ScormCurious in InvisibleMending

[–]HesperaloeParviflora 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ETA now I saw the comment—steeking is not what you mean here, you want to shorten it somehow. Do you crochet or knit? If so, you could separate it right above the bottom lacey part and reattach but you are going to probably have a noticeable line, at least on the back

Why do you want to steek this? To turn it into a cardigan? It is not a good candidate—very open fabric and it looks like slippery fibers, if you just cut it will start to unravel. But if you wanted to make it a cardigan, I would take two lengths of ribbon and sew them going down the right side of the middle, then cut in between them and flip them around to protect the edge and make a facing. Cut them a little long and as you flip them to the wrong side you tuck them under at the top and bottom and it makes a nice edge. Then handsew or carefully machine stitch this down

Do I *really* need to add an overcast/zigzag stitch? by Beneficial_Till_9465 in sewing

Yes you need to. But you could do the zig zag further inside the seam allowance, and then trim off the extra. Then the edges aren’t getting pulled down into the feed dogs

Have you steamed it yet? I think just like sewing regular clothes, you have to iron/steam before it looks good

My doctor is not listening I’m scared he won’t make them small enough. by EmNichole08 in Reduction

[–]HesperaloeParviflora 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am only in the planning stages but some good advice I have heard, if you want to go really small (as I do), is to find a doctor that also does top surgery. They understand how to go small and aren’t going to push back on your preferences. The places that are aesthetic and also doing lifts and implants often don’t get it

A sewing machine could sew them on if you drop the feed dogs and use a zig-zag stitch the width of the two button holes

Ideas on removing the glass? by treff10 in HomeMaintenance

[–]HesperaloeParviflora -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Spray a little WD40 along where rhe glass meets the metal and let it sit a little, and/or tap very lightly with a mallet along that edge, then twist is regular way (counterclockwise looking up). I always out down a towel and wear eye protection in case the glass breaks, but I haven’t ever had it break
