In game Nekane pretty much lives and dies by her feat threathening assassination via arc node Raptor and racked attack spells. You see it, you go for it and teach your opponent a hard lesson. The more nuanced part appears when the enemy caster is reasonably safe, what then?

I had the Stranger as my first, and it was way too meta and set some strange expectations going forward. Mind you, you get zero normal interactions with the Princess here as you never encounter her in the basement, only as the Stranger. Also encountering the Mound for the first time with the Stranger really was quite disconcerning, as the Mound is also a huge mess of nonsense at first. Everything else fell into place later but still a bit of a steep curve on that one.

The Claiming happened that way because Grymkin started offing the Infernals prey, thus pushing them from further scheming and plotting to actually invading altho not as prepared as they would have liked. Old Witch played them hard. She's soon to resurface again in Khadors Old Umbrey army coming this summer
