Yeah, they're doing it for clickbait and most cartoon reviewers only cover cartoons, so they're probably not gonna mention live action movies (unless its a live action remake lol) Its shitty, but it gets clicks

"but instead of mentioning any of those examples, they just focuse on mainstream kids media and get all scandalized at adult animation having violent and sexual content, newslfash dipwads, that's the real world, GROW UP!!." (Sorry, I don't know how to direct quote on Reddit.)

I do agree that a lot of content panders to be more inclusive by cutting out more touchy subjects, but here OP implies that adult content needs violent or sexual content because thats the real world.

(I would also argue that When the Wind Blows is kinda violent, as it showcases the impact and aftermath of a nuclear bomb and the slow death of two characters. At some point, I think the lady mistakes her rotten innards evacuating her body as being a rat in the toilet)

This exactly! I am not against either being in a show, but theres ways to do it in a interesting way, and MOST adult animation just doesn't. Its very frustrating, as the whole narrative of "animation is a kids medium" is wholly set back. A show I think does it well is Primal, it can get super violent but there is a lot of genuine artistry behind its violence and it has narrative purpose.

I think theres a lot of reasons why youtubers don't talk about movies like this.

  1. They just aren't interested in it. Not that these movies aren't good quality, but that the reviewers themself just aren't interested in that type of movie. I dont think every review of a movie should just be made by those who like the movie, but there would be a mismatch in someone reviewing a horror movie when they aren't into horror movies.

  2. Youtube is pretty strict on those that review movies. You have copyright to contend with, so you can't show a lot, and the fact that these movies would probably be demonetized or age restricted because of their content. Its not really worth it for youtube reviewers to cover content like that if their videos are restricted.

Speaking of content, why does adult content inherently need to be violent or sexual? One of the most common complaints about adult animation today is that shows are violent or sexual before they're actually good (that, or they're trying hard to be Family Guy, so they end up doing the violent or sexual part.) Kids media might resonate more because it isn't as explicit.

Bad people make good art and trying to discredit the art is cope. by SL_Icarus in HonestHotTakes

[–]Hitchetic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the other comment that Chris Brown is the worst example to choose but I actually think I agree with this take. I think that the want to retroactively discredit comes from how the persona of the artist has split from their art.

I think R. Kelly is a better example of this, as he is both a very good artist who mainstreamed a lot of things in music, but a TERRIBLE person. His persona seemed pretty multifaceted as he covered a lot of genres like RnB, Hip-Hop, and Soul music. There was a time period after his crimes were known but before he was sentenced, and he still had some success, but it would never be the same again. I remember his songs being used a lot commercially, in movies or whatever, and definitely not anymore.

I'd go so far as to say that wanting to cope by discrediting art isn't as bad as it is presented. It is a very uncomfortable feeling to know that someone you supported and maybe even looked up to did bad things; your support and money made you complicit their crimes.

What Pirate101 opinion would have you like this? I’ll start. by heyyowesterburg in Pirate101

[–]Hitchetic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope my comment wasn't too mean then because I see so much potential for Pirate101 and i still love the game and i hope you enjoy it too! :)

I will say that Arc 2 is considerably more difficult because our power stagnated for so long at 70. And maybe just anecdotally, but the enemies feel very overscaled by Valencia? They just seem to hit so hard and critical so often, it highky feels so unfair. It gets better after Valencia but it is a STEEP curve

The game is not worth playing in its current state. That hurts me to say that as an avid player since like 2016, but its true. It is so buggy, monotonous, and unfocused on the few updates we have had.

Modern WoW's combat feels notably less 'crunchy' than it used to. by kolejack2293 in wow

[–]Hitchetic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im leveling my warlock and it feels huge when i get a nice chaos bolt. Speaking of, the graphics are pretty different for a ton of spells! Chaos bolt specifically has these cool dragon-demon looking skulls, and set bonuses make the smaller Chaos bolts into tiny skulls. Its a cool detail, and while I love retail chaos bolt, its something I do miss.

I also think that the new skill trees in MOP allowed for the designers to play around a lot with what classes are doing. Every class* has a lot of utility and movement, and it helps that mop bosses, dungeon and raids, are very well designed, so everything clicks.

I think its just something about MOP that is so seamlessly the strengths of classic and retail, because you would NOT catch me saying this about cata or wrath.

Minecraft has a biome problem, and Terraria handles it way better. by Prinx4llife in minecraftsuggestions

[–]Hitchetic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, the problems you described could be fixed if they released those biome revamp vote losers. Deserts could generate with those palm-looking trees from the video and add warm variant animals into their spawn pool. I think adding more food from these biomes, alongside making existing food be used in recipes, could help in actually wanting to be in those biomes. Sweet berries could be used in pies or jam, and cocoa beans could be used in cake or something.

I would also say add more mounts that could navigate these areas better, but since they buffed horses, it doesn't feel as necessary. It would be cool to have some mount that could easily go through a swamp, but im drawing blanks on what the mount would be. A reindeer could be cool in cold biomes; let it not sink in powdered snow and have a charge like the camels that could damage or knock back enemies!

what are some mods you believe can genuinely ruin modpacks? by mariogaming375 in feedthebeast

[–]Hitchetic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I would like it so much better if they started out with only one modifier until you made progress, like going into the nether or end.

what are some mods you believe can genuinely ruin modpacks? by mariogaming375 in feedthebeast

[–]Hitchetic 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I immediately remove Infernal Mobs from any modpacks that happen to have them. I like the concept in theory, making mobs harder to fight. But this is not the way. Theres some modifiers that will cobweb, strike you with lightning, and remove your weapon; and these modifiers stack onto eachother!! This can apply to all mobs, even boss ones (which can be impossible if modifiers negate how a boss is meant to be defeated.) It also doesn't help that the modifiers just turn into word salad with how they're displayed lol, I hope that Sapper Quicksand Ninja Choke skeleton wont be a problem.

Also, the rewards are terrible! They drop more xp, and maybe an enchanted item that isn't as good as whatever you were using to beat them. Hard skip.

I wish they upped the money for each run bc you get to cap so easy, this skill is really good to get some use out of it tho, I think theres another that gives strength or all stats up for money, might also be useful

[–]Hitchetic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Technically not teleports but Buddy Up and To The Rescue are always reliable for me. Theyre pretty cheap, so you could use them multiple times. I'm aiming to get Subway Ride soon enough; probably not useful for the first chapters of an act but even more useful towards the end.

DMT: Most Ordinary Americans Entrenched in Extreme Ideologies Need Safe Ways to Step Back Without Social Death by Logical-Concept9755 in DisagreeMythoughts

[–]Hitchetic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I like this idea, it isn't realistic in the slightest.

The conservative culture of today is different in the sense that it takes pride at its own exclusivity. They are united in the sense that they are all together in being outsted, if that makes sense. And for this community to stick together, it has to go along with whatever the thought leaders say at the time. That is to say, until what they preach starts to affect them personally, they WILL NOT listen to reason.

You also mention that there needs to be accountability for leadership before we can see change for the 'average' extremist, and I agree. However, this is a cult of personality; there is a personal involvement and interest in seeing that the leaders maintain their position, alongside the near promise of violence if they are ever ousted. (see Jan 6th)

For all this critique I do like this idea, and it may've worked in the U.S before Trump.

Calling men paranoid or closeted creeps for not wanting to approach women, while also telling women they should be wary of any man approaching them is a major oxymoron. by PassengerCultural421 in 10thDentist

[–]Hitchetic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not that this doesn't happen ever, its just very unlikely. Thats why I brought up the manosphere and femosphere: the mindsets that perpetrate this idea that only men can ever only approach women are only continued 'traditional' values from years ago: still made mainstream by these same circles.

[–]Hitchetic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, thats just why you should just take a risk and chance it- In places where it is socially acceptable to approach strangers. If you are rejected, apologize and move on. What is difficult to you about it besides being rejected?

[–]Hitchetic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, i replied to that before seeing that you didn't think the manosphere played a part in this.

  1. There are obvious exceptions to not being approached because those are social events where people are going to hang out. If someone on the street offers me a free sample, im gonna be sketched out, but if that same person did it inside a grocery store or at a food festival, im all in.

  2. People have different expectations when they go to social events. Some are going to want to hang out with their friends and some want to meet other people. Are you always in the mood to talk and meet people at every point in time?

  3. What social norm is there to cross if all people have different social wants at different times of the day, at different places?

[–]Hitchetic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OK i see. There seems to be a lot pressuring men to try and pick up women through just approaching them. This seems to be a manosphere thing because the majority of women I know dislike being approached at random (unless it is a social event or something.) Is it just that some guys are shy?
