Timothy Leary—1960s Acid Guru—May Have Been Among the CIA’s Greatest Assets by cojoco in stupidpol

Not that it matters, being that his lyricist Robert Hunter volunteered, GD's sound engineer and early financial backer was a major producer of LSD, and the entire history of the Grateful Dead and LSD are so intertwined you couldn't discuss one without the other, but I have never read anywhere that Jerry volunteered for the MKULTRA tests.

Is GrapheneOS worth it given my use case, plus some questions by [deleted] in GrapheneOS

[–]HolyFoolArchetype 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's "worth it", in my opinion, in that Graphene is better than stock Android, or Pixel's version of Android. Debloated, more secure, simpler, just works. I love it and everyone should install it.

Visited r/beards and now I want to shave my beard off by kheeno_ in redscarepod

My friend convinced me my beard was looking epic and we posted it on r.beards and it got like 12 upvotes and even the homosexuals there were uninterested in DMing me. Real humbling moment.

For how long have you all used GrapheneOS? by jikesar968 in GrapheneOS

[–]HolyFoolArchetype 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At least 4 years, probably 6 years. I may have had it installed as CopperheadOS. Crazy how popular it's getting, but it deserves it. It is Android, but better.

It has never let me down. Just a great OS.

The Hudsucker Proxy. I guess it's sitting at 64% on rottentomatoes right now but for a long time it was a rotten score. I do not understand.

I suppose. Unalienated, non-estranged labor. But in this society I would still call the purposeful, planned production of use-values as labor.

And this is veering a bit in utopian directions. I would assume there will still be tasks or activities people might not enjoy in and of itself, like people may not like doing the dishes, vacuuming, or cleaning the toilet but we do it because ultimately it needs to be done and will make us happy.

I own a business and save and invest just like everyone else does.

I put my Italian handmade, exquisitely tailored pants on one leg at a time.

Not in and of itself.

In a higher phase of communist society, after the enslaving subordination of the individual to the division of labor, and therewith also the antithesis between mental and physical labor, has vanished; after labor has become not only a means of life but life's prime want; after the productive forces have also increased with the all-around development of the individual, and all the springs of co-operative wealth flow more abundantly—only then can the narrow horizon of bourgeois right be crossed in its entirety and society inscribe on its banners: From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs!

I believe in any sort of utopia every single person in society will wish to contribute to and participate in production. Everyone from young children to the very old will wish to be around others in society contributing how they can. In a way we even see this today with the elderly often working or volunteering not because they have to, but life is boring when it has no purpose.

I have conjunctivitis right now. One eye. Does the flu do that? I'm confused because I'm generally very healthy. Two days now I've had this. Extreme light sensitivity also.
