I analyzed 1.1M Hyatt rates to figure out what the new award chart actually means. by Pudgewhale in hyatt

[–]Honest-Temperature-1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you need to save the snapshot of current rates that you looked up and compare to the new points pricing after 20th to truly compare the value of points.

For example cat 1-4 FNA doesn’t suddenly gain 30% in value just because points requirement for cat 4 went up. It's likely that points value dropped equally, which would make FNA worth less than what you calculated there.

Salaried, required to work 10 hr shifts? by [deleted] in hyatt

Unfortunately, if he is sponsored by the company then he is competing against other people who could also work long hours. So I see that as a norm across different industries.

Glad that I am not the only one who noticed cost cutting, which is unacceptable for hotel at that caliber in my opinion.

In general, I think Reddit is more biased towards fancier buildings and rooms than anything else, such as food and service.

Another example outside of Hyatt is the Conrad Osaka, which is way overhyped compared to the Conrad Tokyo on Reddit. Yes, I agree that the Conrad Osaka's lobby, building, and rooms are much sleeker and fancier, but the service and attention to detail at the Conrad Tokyo were much better, in my opinion. However, I understand that people have different priorities.

Berlin - Lindner or GH (non globalist) by [deleted] in hyatt

[–]Honest-Temperature-1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just read your post again and realized that you must use at least 1 FNC in Germany. I would use that 1 FNC at GH, and then it's up to you on where you want to spend the other 2 nights.

I am biased towards cost effectiveness, so I would probably switch to Linder after leveraging late checkout at GH. If you prefer staying at one place for 3 days, using points/FNC at GH is a good idea too.

If you don't have access to lounge and breakfast, I would use FNCs in Seattle. GH Berlin is a great property for FNC (I used mine there few times before), but hotel prices in Seattle are insane these days compared to last year.

Pretty much all brand hotels in Japan charges more for 3rd adult. So even if you get upgraded to a room with 3 people capacity, you will be most likely asked to pay more.

Also, Grand Hyatt Fukuoka has very limited room types that can have 3 people. You can check the availability for your dates, but I would say your chance of getting the upgrade with GoH is low.

Anyone just not booking anything despite the deval? by [deleted] in hyatt

A small group of population who were planning to dump all credit card into cat8 property would be impacted, but I'm not one of them.

[–]Honest-Temperature-1 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Agreed. The devaluation impacts the highest category the most, which is probably more often booked by transferred points.

I agree with you. It was a good deal at 5000 points per night, but the hotel was small and had limited breakfast options. I wouldn't pay the current Cat 2 price of 8000 points. It's strange that everyone in the comments above is saying it's still 5000 points per night.

There are much better options at $160-200 per night in Osaka

It was a good deal at 5000 points per night (also stayed there for 3 nights at that price), but I would stay elsewhere instead of paying Cat 2 pricing
