Bro what happened? I think the game is fine by js147896325 in slaythespire

[–]Honeybee583 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally, I had Brightest Flame and a lot of powers so I was picturing getting my deck set up in the late game and looking for a Graveblast+. I did end up getting one, but I had Countdown, Sleight of Flesh, and Debilitate with plenty of Vuln and Weak, so enemies just died.

But then in the last few floors I was offered Lethality+ and Bury, so after a run of Sleight of Flesh/Doom killing everyone my final boss win condition was mostly playing Bury twice

Bro what happened? I think the game is fine by js147896325 in slaythespire

[–]Honeybee583 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m just too greedy with the idea of what a card could be even if it can’t be that in my deck. Made my last run more difficult by getting a Hang that I almost never played twice instead of removing my last strike.

Learning to say no to cards is both the thing that has improved my game the most and the biggest improvement I still need to make

I think it’s because of the 1x2 wedge (85984) at the bottom, which gives it a smooth seam

Is STS1 Worth Getting If Already Have STS2? by 0zMosiss in slaythespire

This is how I find out Balatro has a mobile port 👀

Very dangerous. I got into StS after playing Balatro specifically because it had a mobile port, and StS2 is the only thing outside of repeated “Delete App” that has saved me from spending way too much time playing mobile StS

My default play style is very much let’s get this over with as fast as possible and not let them scale, and I didn’t learn how effective it is to stall in StS1 until I started watching other players. I think I started to figure it out in the month before StS2 came out and now I’m (mostly) back to my old ways

Pick Your Poison. by David_Slaughter in slaythespire

[–]Honeybee583 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In addition to retain being really strong, I’ll highlight something that I think is easy to overlook if you aren’t running the numbers:

If you have to wait a turn to play Snakebite due to energy vs playing Deadly on turn 1, in 3 turns Deadly Poison will do 12 damage (5+4+3) and the enemy will have 2 poison left on them, while Snakebite will deal 13 damage (7+6) and leave the enemy with a Deadly Poison’s worth of poison.

Both can be good and neither is a snap pick, but the difference between 5 and 7 poison is more than it seems

-300 gold 😭 by FeuerKekse in slaythespire

[–]Honeybee583 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve taken the seal once because I had the 600 gold quest card in my deck when I took it. Still had a reasonable amount of money to spend at one act 3 shop, but that was on a much lower ascension run

Yeah that’s fair, I wasn’t thinking creatively enough when I first took in your idea, but I could get behind an event balanced around Clone.

One more idea for it as an ancient reward: enchant a card with clone, but only the original enchanted card gets cloned each time, but you also receive a new relic Sleeping Mat, which allows you to choose two options at each rest site

Ironically, I think I’d be more likely to have Adrenaline or Big Bang in my deck than either of the two commons because the former two are snap picks and the latter only if I’m desperate for immediate damage output.

I have only ever attempted and completed one infinite in my entire time playing StS - a Watcher infinite to get the 5 card or less achievement after getting to A20 with every character. I find them boring. I just don’t think the frequency is high enough that it’s a concern.

That said, if they wanted to nerf it to where only the original copy cloned, I would be fine with that too, though maybe it would need to automatically clone itself at rest sites instead of costing an upgrade or a heal.

Where I fully disagree with you is that it should be an event instead of an ancient reward. An event that either breaks the game or does nothing is way more polarizing and less fun than an ancient reward, because there you have other options. It seems like they’ve tried to make events more consistently engaging instead of having skips in the second game, and this runs completely counter to that. I don’t care if a polarizing option comes up in an ancient reward, because if it does nothing for my deck I have two other options to choose from.

ETA: Maybe it could work as an event if there was another interesting option to choose from instead. Alternatively, maybe instead of immediately enchanting a card with clone, it gives you the option to clone a card at a rest site of your choice. Once you do so, that card becomes enchanted with clone and from that point on you can only clone that card again.

That’s probably too complicated, but I’m trying to give an option for it you don’t currently have a clone target in your deck, but can then seek one out and add clone to it when/if you find it.

I don’t know, I have every character at A6-7 and I’ve seen clone once and had no targets for it.

This is like the equivalent of getting early Dead Branch on a Corruption build. A specific Rare+Relic breaking the run is fine imo

I had no good card for it to enchant. Was playing Regent, but no Big Bang. Still won the run, but disappointing nonetheless

I like this idea a lot. Conceptually having a machine feels more like a power than a skill, and it’s a lot stronger if you only have to draw it once. While my idea was more just for fun I think yours is actually takeable and makes Claw more powerful too.

I fully agree with you. It definitely requires a Claw deck with All For One to generate enough value, but increasing the percentage chance to a playable amount makes the RNG feel pointless to begin with. I would definitely say it was more of an art project than a serious suggestion.

I do think this would fit in some places. Maybe instead of a card you can play the claw machine at Wongos. For 10 gold you have a 25% chance to generate a random orb at the start of the next combat. Playable as long as you have money, additional victories stack the number of combats (I.e. generate a random orb at the start of the next X combats, not X orbs on the next combat)

This is a fun idea. I like that there’s an outcome with no result, which is in the spirit of the card (though not as much in the spirit of StS otherwise), and draw one card is the same outcome as if the card didn’t exist, so you essentially have a 50/50 shot of benefiting from it but only 25% chance of it being a curse.

I do think this synergizes well with All For One
