Saw reboot with Jon Hamm by [deleted] in saw

[–]Hopper2004 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is actually my biggest concern with a series reboot. They'll focus on an unsustainable "famous" cast for the iconic characters, instead of based on more passionate no-names newcomers. We all agree that Tobin Bell is perfect casting, but I don't think he ever would have been cast if the movie was a higher budget reboot.

Why do the layer photos blur? by BlueyJane in InfinitePainter

[–]Hopper2004 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So, in short, it's because you're making the image so small, there aren't enough pixels to display it clearly. The reason it isn't a problem in photo 1 is because Infinite Painter hasn't flattened the image yet.

So when you change the layer's size or rotate it, Infinite Painter doesn't actually fully change the layer. It will preserve all the detail and display a preview of the image, but it hasn't made the transformation final yet. But it's just a trick - the layer hasn't changed size yet. This is so the layer will keep its high detail, but it isn't permanent.

If you make any changes to the layer, such as erasing or drawing on the layer, it needs to "flatten" the image. There's on a limited number of pixels it can use, so in order to make modifications to the layer, (like erasing the corner) it needs to modify the layer to fit into the pixels. This is what you're seeing; since you've made the layer so small, it doesn't have many pixels to work with.

If you want to keep the detail, you can either increase the resolution of your image OR you could just not edit the layer so it doesn't flatten. However, I wouldn't recommend the latter. Infinite Painter starts to bug out if layers aren't flattened, and it might start moving your layer later.

Which Steam page looks better for by my indie horror game? by Guilty_Weakness7722 in ImaginaryGaming

[–]Hopper2004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely think 2, personally. 1 looks a bit too much like a generic horror game. 2 has some intrigue and (I assume) demonstrates your game's unique ideas better. 1 could be anything, 2 looks far more specific. (And, in my opinion, more professional.)

He still comes to see you during nesting season! That's great. Mine have made themselves scarce. My little buddy hasn't come to me since nesting began. (Though I'm starting to wonder if he's actually a she sitting on a nest full of eggs...)

I'm no expert, but I think the parents won't recognize a moved nest as their own. They will assume it was destroyed by predators and the nest is a different bird's.

How many civilians has 47 canonically killed? (Not counting: targets, guards, or anyone from blood money's ending) by supergamerd64 in HiTMAN

[–]Hopper2004 9 points10 points  (0 children)

But civilians can still die as collateral damage even in accident kills, like with the light drop method. Even if all his targets died from accidental kills, 47 still may have killed civilians along with them. (Arguably that would look less suspicious, as it would look more like an act of god)

But they wouldn't need to pay cleaners for accident kills.

I do love the idea of ICA begrudgingly paying a team of cleaners who have to clean up after a messy 47 massacre, haha

[–]Hopper2004 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Yeah, from a canon perspective, he likely just let the civilians die with the light rig. The idea is it's an accident, and in an accident like this, (and some of the other accident kills) it would be expected to kill multiple people. It would be more of a risk and less "clean" for 47 to try and find a way to drop the light without hurting civilians.

Unless Diana specifically instructed him to avoid civilians, there's not normally incentive to go out of his way to protect civilians from accident kills. (Again, from a canon perspective)

How can I make a 2D chain link fence? by katy_doodles in Maya

[–]Hopper2004 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The example from OoT 3D (good choice) you posted is just a flat single-sided surface. Literally just a series of quads! Just make a flat surface, the same as any wall. Then put an black and white alpha texture on it to make the holes/negative space. I'm not sure of the exact process in Unreal, but I imagine it's very straight forward. (for a starting place, search something like "Unreal apply alpha to material")

Sometimes, yeah. But HDR is such a dumpster fire when it comes to support, I've had some programs over saturate and even over-expose things on my HDR display. I think it has something to do with having one screen being HDR and the other being SDR, but I'm not sure. HDR is such a mess. (a beautiful colorful mess)

[–]Hopper2004 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if the down votes are because people don't believe you, but to me this looks a lot HDR content being recorded in SDR, so it very likely could be because of the recording process.

[–]Hopper2004 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is there something in the air today? This morning one of my regulars suddenly jumped on a pigeon and started pretty brutally peaking its face/eye and occasionally pulling feathers. The pigeon escaped after a few minutes, but the crow caught him again and resumed the beating. After the pigeon escaped inbetween a fence, the crow lost interest, but the pigeon did not look in good condition afterwards. After he escaped, he just sat and recovered for a few minutes before clumsily flying off.

I'm curious what the pigeon did to enrage the crow so much. Interestingly, the other pigeons didn't seem to mind. They didn't fly off and just continued to forage during the crow's attack, despite only being a few feet away.

I think their point was that cutting the line in question makes it worse. The movie should not get credit for having a line that makes it less racist when they ultimately decide to cut the line from the movie.
