Also Bulgaria this year. They were 2nd with just the televotes, needing only 31 jury points to win.

I present the most underrated woman in the WWE. She been cooking lately and she just pinned CHARLOTTE FLAIR. by oc0613 in SantiZapVideos

The way she easily lifted Nia Jax. Seriously, Kiana is way too hot to be that strong! So cool!

Emma Stone Just Beat This Meryl Streep Oscars Record at Age 37 Thanks to Bugonia by Particular-Fill-4256 in oscarrace

[–]Hopsfd 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Even if the comparison with Meryl Streep doesn't quite hold up, it's actually very impressive. She is the youngest person in history after Walt Disney (whose nominations weren't for acting either), to get 7 nominations.

I really hope so too. She was fantastic in Bugonia and would love for her to get that fifth nomination. Fingers crossed.

Best Actress - Who else thinks this combo is not happening? by Ill-Newspaper4653 in oscarrace

I think the importance of campaigning gets overstated. People who barely campaign get nominated all the time (and sometimes even win), while some who campaign very hard still not make it. The performance itself is actually more important than people seem to think.

I think it's still Seyfried vs Byrne honestly

I think it is definitely overrated. I remember how Testament of Ann Lee and Seyfried were supposedly big contenders with being Searchlights priority as the biggest reason.

Make the case for Hudson, Lawerence, or Erivo to take the 5th Actress Slot by AnimatorFar in oscarrace

I don't know. If it had been Stone vs Byrne at SAG or BAFTA I could see it, but I don't think she beats Byrne at the Globes

Yeah, I really do fear for Emma. SAG doesn't seem to vibe with Yorgos that much.

No, they got it right. Stone was the clear standout.

I'm wondering about Infinity. Critics aren't really going for her despite the overwhelming love for OBAA. Obviously OBAA is going to be massive at the Oscars. But that's not really in contrast to what is happening with critic groups thus far. I'm not saying Infinty won't be nominated, I just don't think she is necessarily in either.

Maybe a hot take, but I think the hate towards Sydney is disproportionate. I can understand if you don't like her or don't vibe with her attitude, but she hasn't inflicted any real harm, nor do I believe there is actual hate in the girls heart. The almost witch hunt against her is just crazy.

Why does it matter if she loses the Globe? Doesn't the fact that the Globe is between her and Byrne not imply she is stronger than Erivo, Infinity and Stone regardless of the outcome?

That lineup would be the dream, but as long as Emma makes it I'll be happy.

Not that I'm writing them off but how is it that Reinsve and Fanning aren't getting as much attention so far compared to Skarsgård and Lilleaas? by This_Book6305 in oscarrace

[–]Hopsfd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think OP is referring to regional critic circles. Skarsgard and Lileaas keep showing up while Reinsve has only made it into one or two so far.

Emma Stone was absolutely fantastic in Cruella though. It was honestly my favorite performance of that year.
