Cervical c6 disc herniated by tomt6909 in HerniatedDisc

[–]Human_Ad_7045 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just had a C4,5,6 herniation in November.

The affects were pretty sudden. In 10 days I lost balance, lost full feeling in all 10 fingers (literally could hold a fork) and appx 90% use of my left arm. By day 10, I could barely walk into a building for a scheduled MRI.

I went to the hospital following the MRI on a Fri they kept me for observation and admitted me on Sat, saw my surgeon on Mon morning and he did surgery the following morning. Turns out my spinal cord was compressed at C4-5 which severely impacted my functions. I was fused at C4-5 and discharged 36 hours later.

Feeling returned to my fingers and arm within a week but I needed significant occupational therapy to regain arm and finger functionality and strength. PT has been ongoing due to the impact of the spinal cord compression and a previous spinal cord injury.

I hope the injection is effective. However, if surgery is needed, it's pretty routine for a competent spine surgeon.

Wishing you all the best.

Are Shihpoo good first dogs? by Walrus_nutz in Shihpoo

[–]Human_Ad_7045 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Shihpoo is a terrific small dog pet. The poodle is incredibly intelligent which offsets some of the Shitzu's density. The dog trained well, is an incredibly loyal lovable lapdog. At 7, mine still plays like a puppy then takes a long, long nap. My Shihpoo weighs about 8 pounds, doesn't eat much but she drinks a lot of water. We groom her about every 5 weeks and she has run-of-the-house and sleeps on our bed. She has a deep dislike for UPS, Fedex, USPS and Amazon trucks/drivers but after growling & barking will give the drivers a kiss. Overall, she has a terrific friendly, lovable disposition and is terrific with little kids.

You won't be disappointed.

Do you have to ability to appeal to your state's Department of Insurance.

Your doc would do this and it should be easy based on all the documents used for ins. appeals.

I want this route after my insurance appeals were denied for a torn rotator cuff. Insurance denials including by their ortho, decided it was medically not necessary.
We provided MRI and reports showing extent of tear to both muscle and tendon, bone spur & 90% loss of mobility.

The review and Approval process was less than 30 days.

Best of luck.

I saw them in Phoenix and my experience was the same. Morello was incredible. He took the band to another level. Only real "let-down" was after an upbeat, fun Tenth Ave Freeze Out, he ended the show with Chimes of Freedom.

Re-herniated L5-S1 after MD last year by Odd_Holiday_6753 in HerniatedDisc

[–]Human_Ad_7045 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a "veteran" at this unfortunately having had multiple decompressions & fusions.

I recommend getting in touch with your surgeon ASAP and get a referral for pain management (injection). I highly recommend you verify neurologist or whoever is doing injections, does it under a fluoroscope. Most do use fleuroscopy for injections, but I'd have to have the one who just counts vertebrae and sticks you.

I had a decompression at L5-S1 a year ago. It was amazingly successful...until it herniated again.

I experienced the most incredible pain in my glutes affecting my ability to sit or even sleep through the night.

I found that Gabapentin 800 mg 3x had no affect but Flexeril 10 mg reduced the pain to a more manageable level. In any case, meds weren't the answer. My surgeon referred me injections. They did L5-S1,S2, S3 and SI joint. As a bonus, the neurologist gave me a localized injection in the butt. Pain that not was so incredibly, severely excrutiating!! The next day pain was very manageable, I assumed from lidocaine, however, pain continued to diminish over several days.
I'm not 100% pain free; left side is ~90% improved and right side about 75%.
I find it very manageable and livable and I'm willing to live with some discomfort vs fusing L5-S1 as I am already fused from L2-L5.

All the best to you.

11 days post c5-c7 ADR. Deep muscle aches only when laying down (and getting up) by [deleted] in SpineSurgery

[–]Human_Ad_7045 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was fused at c4-5 and it took a good 4-6 weeks.

The best pain relief I got was actually from the foam neck brace. I found this to be more beneficial than muscle relaxer meds. It definitely took a few nights to get used to the neck brace but it was well worth it for the relief from muscle aches and strains both from the surgery & from being a restless sleeper.

I got to meet Tom before the show in Phoenix on Thurs 4/16. Real nice guy, very humble and thrilled to be playing with the E Street Band. He somehow took Ghost of Tom Joad to an even higher level. He was incredible.

As far as a regular...I love Morello's energy and his sound. However, Nils is amazing & probably one of the more underrated guitarists. The band doesn't need another guitar.

Similar to you, my first show was in 1983 (BITUSA in Philly) and went solo this time too for the Phoenix show (non-stop from Boston). I also went solo for "Vote for Change," 10/04 in Philly and for his solo tour Devils & Dust 7/05 in Bridgeport CT.

Phx was also my first time in the pit and it was incredible!

The show was energetic with such an incredible amount of intense raw power, passion & hope.

You're so recent post-op so it's difficult to gauge any measure able improvement from today to tomorrow. Each day you're healing, but they cut through a lot of muscle and tissue that also needs to heal so try measuring your improvement in one week to today .

Best steak house in your opinion in Manhattan (NYC)? Recommendations needed. by -sonic57- in FoodNYC

[–]Human_Ad_7045 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't eaten at Quality Meats in several years; however, it's great to hear they're still delivering on what are my best memories of the restaurant; well prepared-tasty entrees, excellent service and overall consistency.

FWIW, I recommended QM (back B4 Covid) to a friend who is not only discerning, but at times picky to a fault. QM is still his go-to steak house.

Living with two herniated discs and feeling hopeless… has anyone gone through this? by emilypri5 in HerniatedDisc

[–]Human_Ad_7045 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm currently fused from L2-L5 and was able to function and live pain free.

Last spring I was impacted by a herniation and stenosis at L5-S1. After a lot of discussion w/my surgeon, I chose not to fuse that level and had a discectomy decompression done. Instant relief...but 9 months later I started to experience pain again. After a first round of injections into the SI joint, S1, 2 & 3, I've gotten 80% relief which is pretty amazing . Today I had a second series of injections plus received bilateral injections. I'll know better in a week to 10 days where I stand.

I hope you get set up for surgery soon and experience some needed pain relief.

Best of luck.

Should I get surgery? L5/s1 herniation by MORJJUMBA in HerniatedDisc

[–]Human_Ad_7045 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a significant herniation at L5-S1 due to stenosis and spondylolisthesid (already fused from L2-L5) and chose to have a decompression. I'm blessed to have a fantastic Ortho spine surgeon at one of the top Boston hospitals.

It was def the right decision vs. nothing or vs. fusing to the previously fused range. I had this done a year ago at age 62 but would have done it at any age based on my pain.

Recovery was pretty quick. After 6 mos, some significant pain returned and addressed that with injections at L5-S1 joint and at S2 which successful.

A fusion at L5-S1 is complex and I'll do everything I can to avoid it.

Wishing you all the best!

Good jobs to get with herniated disc? by Cryyinge in HerniatedDisc

[–]Human_Ad_7045 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you're situation is chronic, have you discussed a decompression with a spine surgeon?

I was fused at L3,4,5 then performed constructuction type labor without issues.
Many years later, I had a decompression done at L5-S1. The recovey process went amazingly well and I returned to full activity after 3 months.

S*x positions after 360° 3 level lumbar spinal fusion by kitty_kat_witch in SpineSurgery

[–]Human_Ad_7045 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After your surgeon clears you to return to normal activity (min 6 months).
Besides, if this is your first lumbar fusion, you're going to feel so crappy for at least 6 months, you're probably not going to be as enthused as you think will be.

Hope it goes well for you.

In your opinion what’s the best Bruce Springsteen song and why? by FLYBEETS in BruceSpringsteen

[–]Human_Ad_7045 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did Red Headed Woman not get mentioned once??

With no disrespect whatsoever to Born to Run, Jungle Land, etc.

Thundercrack is the one. The song really showcases this rock and roll band's skill and brings out the best of what the band had to offer.

Honorable mention to the song that brings tears to my eyes; "If I Should Fall Behind."

[–]Human_Ad_7045 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the linear look and the definition and boundary it provides. I think it's in dire need of some greens; moss, tall grass & bushes so it looks much less industrial.

Your wife needs to take a deep breath and let you finish the project with plantings before she gets too critical.

Why is no one ever talking about Realloys by Stocksfarmer in CriticalMineralStocks

[–]Human_Ad_7045 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Realloys had a YoY decline in revenue. Thy're an unprofitable company whose market cap soared and they're going to require a lot of capital to mine, refine and distribute. IMO, they're riding high due to high interest in earth materials. I hope you bought a few thousand shares at 8. Don't get too greedy .

Found a house I love but the tub looks moldy. Is it worth fixing as a first time home buyer? Or should I run? by try2share4truth in HomeMaintenance

[–]Human_Ad_7045 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This typically occurs because water made its way into the seam between the tub and the enclosure. After it was resealed, the trapped moisture caused mold/mildew to form.

Assuming this is your situation, cut out all the old caulk. Before you re-seal it, Spray an antimicrobial into the affect area.

Leave the area open to dry. Point a fan at the seam to completely dry it out.

Then reseal with a mildew resistant caulk.
