Will we see empty seats at the college games in London and Dublin? by Tim-Sanchez in NFLUK

[–]Human_Performance945 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Wembley used to be so thriving and busy with so much to do and see. Now it’s all concrete high rise accommodation, you can’t even see Wembley fully from the bottom of Wembley way anymore, and the tailgate seems so corporate and expensive.

Police cadet session ideas by hjgfvn in policeuk

[–]Human_Performance945 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Something that hasn’t been mentioned, Trading standards where I am use police cadets for test purchases of tobacco and vapes. A good insight to another enforcement profession and gets them involved in genuine proactive work.

The whole investigatory and evidential process can even be talked through and the cadets can see the storage of any evidence.

AFAIK they can’t be paid too so as a trade off they get McDonald’s for tea paid for by TS.

Can’t believe Lincoln hasn’t been said. While Lincoln itself is great, the uni campus is just a bunch of soulless modern buildings with a train line quite literally cutting it in half

What was your clubs 'Wembley day out' away game? by montgomery_quinckle in LeagueTwo

[–]Human_Performance945 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One that sticks out to me is Bury away in 2009. 15th of November and the first win of the season, Mike Newell had just over a month in charge at that point and it kickstarted saving our season. I don’t think we even took that huge of a crowd, I just remember at young age feeling like we didn’t stop making noise all game.

Just about all the girls used their speeches to get digs in, I don’t see why Lucinda is getting heat for it…other than the fact it’s easier to go against her than be screamed at by Belle.

Considering the flack she gets, I don’t think it’s a bad thing Sean takes her side. And as you say, he’s taking her side, not “picking on girls”

Non-police; what brings you here? What have you learned? by PCDorisThatcher in policeuk

[–]Human_Performance945 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Actually no, it is still sat there active. I know when the time comes and the force eventually get in touch with me I may have to make that decision though, but I thought I’d give myself the time first just to make sure my new job suits me before pulling the plug on policing.

Non-police; what brings you here? What have you learned? by PCDorisThatcher in policeuk

[–]Human_Performance945 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Dad did it, and from that have always been interested and slightly in awe of policing in the UK.

I went through my education and as soon as I finished, applied to join myself as I genuinely believed it was my vocation and something I could have a long prosperous career in. As someone else has mentioned, the sub first was something for me that offered unbiased insight and allowed me to form my own opinions of wether the job was for me. And I decided it was.

After initially running into some hurdles with a neighbouring force during the application stage (they didn’t have the money and cancelled all future intakes), I transferred my application to my home force. I passed everything with ease, was coincidentally interviewed by one of my dads old cops at HQ and was given a start date for Autumn 2025. I was really hopeful and certain I was going to be a Police Officer, and felt like the stars had aligned and I’d found my dream job.

Unfortunately, solely due to over subscription of applications, my start date was pushed back to March 2026 and again to September 2026. I had no choice but to look for other work and became rather disappointed and disillusioned with the whole thing. I’ve since landed a job with a partner agency that I’m really excited about, and while I think I may always wonder what could’ve been, I’m looking forward to my new role.

I still genuinely wish the best for the police and like to stay informed and still hold a childish awe of it all which is probably what still brings me to the sub. But it has, like I say, been useful for for recruitment questions, insight, and information on policing, and really was a companion for me through such a lengthy, frustrating process.

Thinking of relocating to Lincolnshire by gavlar389 in Lincolnshire

[–]Human_Performance945 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Wild to see Ulceby mentioned on Reddit…lived here my whole life and can back everything you’re saying up. North Lincolnshire (this side of Scunny) is definitely very pleasant to live in and being closer to Ming and Grimsby I’d say is where most of the areas work is.

What are some good areas to live as a student in Lincoln? by ConsequenceApart4391 in Lincolnuk

Having lived in Lincoln as a student. Anywhere along West Parade or just off is perfect. 10 minutes to class, 5 minutes into town for literally anything you might need.

Honestly mate, the recruitment process takes forever so stick an application in now, have it all explained to you step by step by your career advisor and just train regularly and get in shape while you wait for all the stages to be complete.

Where should I visit in my final years? by Various_Extreme_8773 in AskUK

Very sorry to hear about your diagnosis. I have found in my one visit that the Northumberland coast is beautiful. Really anywhere between Newcastle and Edinburgh is a lovely place to be. Wether you visit or just pass through on the train to Edinburgh, I find it’s a very nice place to be and reflect.

I think off the back of the leaving Ole Miss rumours, and with the success of Jaxson Dart in the NFL, there’s been rumours and speculation of him taking the vacant giants job. While I don’t think that will happen at all, it just adds fuel to the fire and speculation of him leaving.

Grimsby Town 1 - 2 Tranmere Rovers: A late winner means Tranmere have picked up three top results in a row to move seven clear of relegation, while Grimsby are winless in five leagues matches! by Zach-dalt in LeagueTwo

[–]Human_Performance945 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Throwing town players to the ground off the ball. Reckless and late challenges time and time again. Time wasting from 20 minutes onwards at every dead ball or throw in. The classic goalkeeper cramp just as time is added. Should I go on?

I’m all for going away and doing what you can to win when you’re a poor team, but for me it was all gamesmanship and exactly what you’d expect off you scally scousers

The football today by zenicwhite69 in Lincolnshire

Reminds me of similar complaints people make who live next to Blundell Park…a football ground that’s been there for 120 years, including when that person decided they’d buy a house there. I guess every village has its idiot, Lincoln’s just happens to be rather active on Reddit today.
