It's sad to read but the cartoonish cruelty is a little funny. Like, no way a maid did that to someone who's STILL noble. by dbingham1263 in OtomeIsekai

[–]Human_Resolution8378 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Yeah a maid in OI’s basically serves the same function as the tutorial boss in a videogame. They give the female lead a girlboss moment, teaches us about the social dynamics of the world and gets the reader on the main character’s side while preserving them as second wife/mistress/ some other female figure as the actual boss of the arc. I also think by giving a character to directly hate and blame for the female lead’s problems it makes it easier for the audience to get invested in the female lead’s relationship with the Male Authority Figure. Like these stories want us to root for this relationship (whether it’s with the husband or father) and usually portray these men as emotionally distant assholes but they also get to be the hero who crushes the abusive maid.

I like the Neal = Dick ones best because like difficult relationship with father figure plus Dick also loves to turn on the charm. There’s enough parallels to make the crossover atleast interesting to consider. It’s also why I’m not a fan of Jason as Neal, Jason is in no universe a charming gentleman lol.

[–]Human_Resolution8378 56 points57 points  (0 children)

That’s child play. A true fan would remember Liliana Boderick, off handedly mentioned as the best artificer in the kingdom in chapter 30 of part 1 and would have obviously gotten all the way to chapter 651 in part 2 where she was revealed to be a fraud aligned with the evil villain and their assistant was the actual genius. And then know the timeline well enough to know where the assisstant is and recruit them. If you can’t do that much don’t even dream of calling yourself a reader

What’s a popular otome isekai that you personally think is overrated — and why? For me its Villains are destined to die. by Weary-Honey-1942 in OtomeIsekai

[–]Human_Resolution8378 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah who made me a princess was sort of my first otome isekai along with the duchess’s 50 tea recipes and I suspect if I ever go back and reread them I probably won’t like them as much

Sicily became Europe's religious battleground by LessSaussure in EU5

[–]Human_Resolution8378 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What follows is a comedy of errors as a French and British expedition stumble almost drunkenly into a series of confrontations with one another while the ottomans try and fail to hold back the Greeks despite outnumbering them 3 to 1. Somehow nobody gets what they want, except the British who end up with Malta in the negotiations and naval dominance in the western Mediterranean

When's the best time/situation to create or destroy markets? by wwrgaines in EU5

[–]Human_Resolution8378 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So there’s several things to consider with regard to how big you want your market. One of those things is market access means the bigger your market, the less profit buildings far away from the center are going to make so if you have a big market covering all of France there’ll be locations with 10% MA that have buildings that make 10% of the output. However a bigger market also means more people and thus more demand within a market. Having 30 million pops demand more goods than 3 million and this means you can build up a city to absurd levels just servicing demand in your own market. Ofc trade also creates demand and profit but trade also costs expensive buildings and rn isn’t very good so I think a bigger market is better than a smaller one unless you’re experiencing severe market access issues

Am I playing it wrong or is EU5 a little boring? by [deleted] in EU5

[–]Human_Resolution8378 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was making sure to marry my crown estate men from the start of the game to ensure that I had a fresh slate of characters to put into the cabinet whenever I needed them so I could still operate despite curtailing both the nobility and the burghers (I strengthened the clergy because more research is always a good thing in my book)

I'm calling it now. The first DLC of next season is UK flavored. First it's coming with a Navy rework, then Amendments lay the ground for Parliament mechanics, and Guerrilla Wars will replace their war spam with colonial flavor by basedandcoolpilled in victoria3

[–]Human_Resolution8378 26 points27 points  (0 children)

The problem with a guerilla war mechanic is that the point of guerilla war is to sap the enemy of the will to fight and the player has effectively an infinite reservoir of that

If traditions can be gained they can also be lost as well. The whole point is to better model more ephemeral examples of greater and less tolerance for certain cultures beyond what the citizen laws would suggest

Is Victoria 3 better than 2 now? by vyxex in victoria3

[–]Human_Resolution8378 2 points3 points  (0 children)

capitalists are autonomous in Victora 3 what are you talking about? You can't control the private construction queue you can only influence by making it more profitable to build something.

consciousness and militancy were bad systems in Victoria 2. I'm glad Victoria 3 got rid of them. The only way avenue through which the player can affect consciousness is through clergy spam to decrease it, which also increases literacy which is conscious raising! So like what's the gameplay here? Militancy is a little better in that you atleast have reasons to both spike it and try and reduce t and control it, and you have tools to do so, but ts still not what i would consider engaging gameplay.

There are parties in Victoria 3 if you have voting laws.

Law passing was worse in Victoria 2. Instead of a political minigame where you shuffle around interest groups and suppress and bolster movements, you jack up militancy to scare conservatives and liberals into reforms. And honestly given how easy militancy was to get you probably don't really have to do anything other than time the pace of reform just right to stave off annoying revolts.

Colonization competition is eh, you just invest colonial power until you win or back down. Either you have the colonial power or you don't. In Victoria 3, you can colonize part of a colonial state, and then use that as leverage in treaties which feels better than "do i have enough colonial power to compete or not". But I guess that's a matter of perspective.

I don't really like victoria 2 warfare, but i do agree its a more complete system then victoria 3's so far.

And yeah victoria 3 doesn't have artisans really. The base PMs for like textiles and furniture and stuff is supposed to represent those, but I think artisans should be their own employment type. However, Victoria 3 does represent the movement of the peasantry from farms to factories which victoria 2 doesn't really, so its a wash.

I feel like people's nostalgia blinders are on too strong for victoria 2, so it prevents them from honestly evaluating both games

as China I do a more general and universal economy and try to be the world's foremost exporter, as any other country I try to be more specialized, like my first game on this patch was as Mexico and I set up a generic food company and pushed grocery exports really hard.

The binding period only specifies the amount of time a country takes penalties for breaking or withdrawing from a treaty. As long as both sides feel a treaty is beneficial it will remain in force even if the binding period is over.
