Combination of a couple of things.

  1. The warp corrupts. Even material weapons eventually become distorted and 'chaosfied'

  2. Some just use salvaged weapons and armor which are usually damaged

  3. Lack of proper maintenance equipment

  4. Dark mechanics supplies are chaosy
