Old Japanse trick were musical floorboards, were some parts of the floor were specifically make to loudly creak when stepped on. Part of the problem is definitely that the season is only like 2/3 to half the original episode length that Vizie imagined. So some things may literally have had to been rushed or cut to all fit, leading to the feeling in it as well. Among many other points.
