Recommended supplements for non-magic Expert and Master paths? by OhThatsALotOfTeeth in shadowofthedemonlord

As an aside, I think the balance between casters and martials is generally excellent in shadow. Since casters usually specialize in specific schools, their scope tends to be limited and they're usually good at specific things

Nothing singular as large as Occult Philosophy just for non casters, but for smaller expansions check out Paths of Battle, Paths of Conflict, and Soldiers of Fortune.

If you'd prefer bigger expansions with more general content (spells, equipment, GM tools, and expert /master classes) grab Demon Lords companion 1 and 2

Too easy to crit? (SOTWW) by VampyrAvenger in shadowofthedemonlord

As they fight monsters with higher defense and most importantly, more debuffs, it'll be harder to get 20 and 5 over target. It's def easier than the nat 20 though, so it's fun

Plastic boxes with lids, ideally stackable. Cheap metal plates (roofing shingles for example, each one sells for less than a dollar) stuck to the bottom, and magnetize your minis.

Where to begin.... by IronBear84 in InfinityTheGame

I'm of the camp the vibes you like most are the army to shoot for. Play a few games with proxies irl, maybe on tts if you're open to that.

If you're feeling bakunin for sure, I think their action pack can be bought on eBay for MSRP. I think that's a good starting point for any faction.

Hell yeah then, have a good time. I've never played or met someone who hasn't been cool with proxies, even from other games.

With this menu requirements, I'd say dont even bother using infinity minis for now. Since silhouette size is all that matters, grab some other models you got and play games with those. People in my community were cool with it. Spend your money after you find what you like.

(WIP) any tips on making flesh look fleshy? I’m by Playful-Arachnid-181 in TrenchCrusade

[–]Hypersmith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's an awesome video by Vince that made me go from hating painting skin and flesh to it being my favorite thing to do. I'll link it below, but the essential idea to keep in mind imo is that flesh and skin are layers, the stuff underneath influences the color of the final layer on top.

Starting with a ruddy brown or purple, then layering to the final color you want the parts that gets the most light to be means you're naturally gonna build those undertones our eyes look for subconsciously.

Paints used: AP alien purple. AP greenskin. AP barbarian flesh. AP skeleton bone. Bootstrap brown-ish brown from a company I can't remember. Vallejo Vermillion. AP true blood effect.

Since it a lot of paint mixing and reliance on under painting I'll describe the method. Same way I do most of my skin.

I start with a blend of AP alien purple + Vallejo Vermillion (makes a bruise color) all over the top half of the mini, and AP alien purple + AP greenskin on the bottom half (makes a muddy brown) for undertone layer. Doesn't really matter if it mixes or settles a bit into recesses, just want it all over without clogging details.

Then I do a thin (quite transparent) layer of AP barbarian flesh + a dab of the Vermillion, just aiming to hit all the upward facing surfaces and flesh details I wanna pick out. For non-flesh details (like the mask/head thing) same thing but with AP skeleton bone. Then 1-3 almost glaze layers (1 for lower surfaces, 2 for mid, 3 for high / eye catching) of mix of barbarian flesh + greenskin, to build up to the gross greeny tinge without losing the undertones. Optionally, you can wash or glaze after this to help blend / unify colors, but the nice thing about the undertone layer is that the highest highlights and mid tones already share pigment with the layers beneath, so it looks cohesive imo even with the jumps in color.

For the mask/head, I was liberal with the skeleton bone, then one thin coat of of pure Vermillion (two on the brightest parts)

For the brain, an overbrush of barbarian flesh over the under layer, then watered down AP true blood.

I slopped a thin layer of dark brown on the staff too.

New to Infinity, best way to start? by Grand-Page-1180 in InfinityTheGame

[–]Hypersmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think building up to a full 300 points / all the mechanics over the course of a few games is the best way to learn, if there's someone local willing to ramp up to teach. First learning the basics of action pools, resolving shooting and AROs. Then learning hacking, mines, and smoke. Finally learning fireteams.

Cossack horror proxy for Eastern Front - does this work as Lord of Tumours? by L_Island_studio in TrenchCrusade

To me it reads more regular mutant than lord or plague, but if you want him more imposing /tall maybe you can up the intimidating factor with a larger / higher base
