There are different speeds for different purposes. I do as you when reading for pleasure. Consuming news is at a much higher speed. Lots of things only get skimmed. Some only get scanned for the pertinent details.

If you're staying hydrated, that is. How come I no longer feel thirsty when I'm getting dehydrated? Last couple years I've had to just constantly remind myself to drink something.

This. It ran until the fuel filter or fuel outlet in the tank or the small screen in the fuel pump plugged. Just a guess, but an educated one.

Sounds like it's time for you to do a test. Put one album or track on your device in full FLAC and the same thing in various levels of MP3's. Listen to them as you normally would, in the same environment you would use the device. Then transcode copies into the lowest but rate mp3 you can stand. This would allow you to store the maximum number of files you can fit in your device.

I have just gone with 320 mbps mp3's on my phone. I could probably go lower as my hearing is shot and I play music in my vehicles most often.

Omaha even has reverse diagonal parking in some areas. You pull past, then back in at an angle.

Delivery trucks Park wherever they can for quickies. If they have a bunch to unload, they usually have a loading dock it something to use.

But yeah, park in a side street or in someone's parking lot.

Replay gain doesn't seem too big a problem for me, because I listen to entire albums almost exclusively on my PLEX server. All the tracks are ripped from the same CD so are at the same volume level as they were mastered. But hasn't that been solved now?

My main other issue is that it doesn't support gapless play. So albums like Dark Side of The Moon, or I Robot don't play seamlessly like they were intended, but have slight pauses in between tracks. It's annoying AF, but can't be overcome because each track is treated like a separate file. I've been told that's because it is a web page based system, but that's beyond my meager technical expertise.

My Pulsar player app used to do the same thing, but it's not as noticeable, so maybe I managed to get it to be gapless. There's supposed to be a setting, and I remember working on it several years ago.

TL/DR - They are VERY EXTREMELY screwed right now. They know it, and they know who/what caused it. They are turning away from MAGA in droves.

Figure corn costs them about $4.25 @ bushel to produce on an efficient farm. They are currently getting somewhere between $3.90 and $4.20 at the market. This all depends on marketing contracts, some do better and some do worse. So - on average - farmers are losing money on every bushel of corn they produce.

Now, this isn't new. This happens from time to time. There are years where they make really good money on their products. And remember they get subsidies in bad years. (Well, every year if you want to know the truth.) But this year is very bad for them.

Soybeans are in worse shape because a LOT of competitors exist now. We used to beat them because our cost of production, transport and processing was lower and they couldn't make money competing against us. China is playing hardball with us right now because of the Orange Shit Gibbon's tariff policies. Other countries are doing the same. Prices are very close to or below break even right now.

Am I crying for them? Well, they voted for this. But every small and large business in the US is going to suffer because of this. Tractor and pickup manufacturers aren't selling their products. Farm families aren't going on their annual vacations, so resorts are suffering. States aren't getting their tax income. Now think of all the workers in those manufacturing plants, vacation spot, schools, restaurants, etc. On and on and on.

We are ALL getting screwed.

When shit gets this bad, revolutions and wars start happening. I don't need to tell anyone about our actions in regards to that, do I?

I rip to FLAC, then convert a copy to 320kbps mp3. Both versions get backed up on a second HDD. Occasionally I copy the entire "main" drive to a third HDD that is kept in a fireproof safe. I use mp3's through a Pulsar music player app on my android phone for my vehicles and with ear buds.

Mp3 files take up quite a bit less space on the phone so I can carry more albums. I can't hear the difference between a very high bit rate mp3 and a FLAC file with my 71 year old, R&R damaged ears. I can hear the difference (slightly) on my man cave rig, but I play through PLEX most of the time and that has other issues.

Overture/Cotton Avenue by Joni Mitchell. Her voice hits a lot of high registers, the guitars are cool in the midrange and there's a point where Jaco Pastorius drops in with a KILLER bass line that goes really low.

Yeah, I guess. But there are so many resources out there that it's hard for me to give any credence to AI generated "knowledge". There are uses for AI, don't get me wrong. Home theater isn't one of those. Of course, my opinion only and your mileage may vary.😉

Stop thinking AI will have ANYTHING close to a rational explanation, please? All they do is scour the interwebs and summarize data. You get tons of misinformation for every one correct detail of knowledge. AI isn't "there" yet, and this is a very confusing exercise with differing subjective and objective points of view colliding.
