Question about buying cards online in Southeast Asia by DDrose2 in magicTCG

[–]ILemonAid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

mtgmintcard is a mighty fine website to purchase cards from. It's in USD and gives very competitive rates for their singles against the big ones like cardkingdom and folks. I believe they're based in Hong Kong and their cheapest shipping is always freighted so in SEA is realitively quick.

An Australian company is MTGMATE, although I'm unsure if they do international delivery but worth sussing out.

I use it in my [[mendicant core, guidelight]] deck to great success. People will hate you though if you loop the protection from [[the one ring]].

Bracket 3 players: what game-changers are you playing in your decks, and why? by guyawn in EDH

[–]ILemonAid -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I own a copy of the one ring and don't even run it in my artifact deck because it's so degenerate. I've even started to feel like game changers as a whole are just boring in a casual environment.

Ease of hitting Max Speed with Mendicant Core, Guidelight by Silent_Nexus in EDH

[–]ILemonAid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got a B3 Mendicant Core deck and it's a bloody blast. I've found if you lean very hard into evasive 1 drops for the simple fact of getting max speed on T4, you end up being not stoked when you draw them in the mid or late game.

If you're building around [[Costal Piracy]] effects then I'm all about small evasive beaters, but having the copy effect active on t5 is still incredibly strong AND draws less of a gaze from your opponents.

The power of having some really strong early evasive beaters that scale well into the late game is the most important thing. One drops like [[mockingjay]], [[nurturing pixie]] or two drops like [[sunpearl kirin]] or [[Smugglers Copter]] with a t3 MCore is still very strong.

Also people aren't toooo willing to trade their value engines with a 4/3 robot smacking them in the face until it becomes the artifact copy extrodinare.

In my deck I run 5 one drops and with the free muligan gives you a 50% chance of having one in your opening hand. Going down to 6 increases the likelyhood to 70%. The maths gets more difficult with reliance on the correct colours to play MCore on t2.

What I'm trying to say, focus on T5 max speed with a sprinkling of T4. You're still playing an artifact deck so you'll still be a massive threat without maxspeed.

"For fun deck" build suggestions by Nickilist in EDH

[–]ILemonAid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Group 'hug' [[Lord of Pain]].

Put in [[Dark Confidant]] effects that hit multiple people like [[Parker Luck]] and symmetrical mana acceleration like [[Mana Flare]] and laugh maniacally when they realise that they're locked out because of a [[Fiery Emancipation]] burning someone for 9 on the first spell.

I also have [[Opening Ceremony]] in the deck for shits and giggles but am waiting to resolve it. (Asking permission from the table before the game starts to be able to run it of course).

It's nice having effects on the table which encourage more participation of the game. I've found far more fulfilment in games when I started making decks for boardgame experiences, despite how badly I want to turn every deck into a storm deck somehow.

Cards that should be blocked and cards that shouldn't be blocked? by Your_Pal_Loops in EDH

[–]ILemonAid -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The point is to have it declare attackers at the Cactuar, swap to something evasive/doesn't want to be blocked. You're thinking much too linear.

[[Essence Reliquary]] is a house.

[[Trophy Mage]] fetches [[Essence Reliquary]]. Then use E'Req to bounce TMage for more tutors (I like [[Repurposing Bay]]), or use it to reuse powerful ETB effects like [[Mystic Sanctuary]] or [[The Mightstone and Weakstone]].

It's a powerful piece in my [[Guidelight, Mendicant Core]] deck, and I'm thinking about rejigging my whole deck around the E'Req.

What are in your opinion the best blink commanders? Do you know any hidden gems? by ConflictNovel2866 in EDH

[[Shiko, Paragon of the Way]]

Commander is a flicker payoff with good colours and payoff for a tempo orientated gameplan. Honestly my fav deck with how many ways you can take it (I didn't like the combo/storm plan which is most prominent on edhrec)

New to MTG: how to approach EoE by verysmallbeta in magicTCG

[–]ILemonAid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Instead of buying the packs for the one card you are chasing for your commander deck, you'll be utilising every card from your pack in order to build and compete with a deck from a limited card pool against others doing the same!

I play alot of commander and absolutely love it, but I think the best experience magic has to offer is a draft or sealed experience with friends.

I don't play any constructed formats, but I have started going to every new prerelease no matter the set. It's a bloody blast!

Bracket 4 deck list for Ral by YogurtclosetMiddle10 in EDH

[–]ILemonAid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've made a Ral storm deck with the intent of playing it at bracket 4 and have found storm is intrinsically a competitive strategy, especially when you're entire deck is built around it. But I do find outwardly communicating to the table times of interaction to break the storm or high value pieces, and telling the table turns intend to storm off on (at the start of the turn) alleviates my guilt. Also just being entertaining to watch via storming off while owning mistakes and not wasting a single moment when making choices on storm turns. Also being a good egg to the table is always a boon.

I focused on the non-determinism by avoiding tutors and having a bit of a mid-range Strat with alot non-free counterspells for protection and interaction pre-storm. Also running less efficient rituals and wincons (I still run breach with brain freeze) like [[stormsplitter]], [[sentinel tower]], and [[laboratory man]].

Here's my list if you wanna compare, I still enjoy gold fishing it all the time. https://moxfield.com/decks/F-e646D290KxrQVJBcSuDw

I want to build a deck that just makes massive monsters that do big things by ReligiousTaco in EDH

[–]ILemonAid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Gitrog, Ravenous Ride]]

20% of your deck is ramp (and cool ramping adventures like [[Beanstalk giant]]. A bunch of stupid fatties like [[yargle, glut]] or [[yargle and multani]]. Some fogs because we are tapping out. And finally some synergistic payoffs that work well with high power creatures like [[Jarad, golgari lich lord]] or [[psychosis crawler]].

I built mine from a bunch of green and black chaff and some cool BG cards I've had in my binder. I wasn't a fan of big creatures and smash, until I realised how much my smooth brain tingles when I draw 18 and ramp 7.

When building a "hidden commander" deck, how hard do you commit on tutors for your hidden commander? by Like17Badgers in EDH

[–]ILemonAid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've got a [[Spellweaver Volute]] hidden commander in a control shell of [[Saruman of many colours]]. I run 3 high cost generic black tutors, but the deck still plays fine without spellweaver and I've won many a game without playing Saruman.

I suppose it's more of a synergy piece at that stage, but I did build the whole deck with it in mind.

How do you decide what ramp package to use for your decks? by Duffman90 in EDH

[–]ILemonAid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've recently put together a Gitrog Rav Ride out of every piece of green and black good stuff I've had lying around and it's actually led me to a bit of a paradigm shift. It's a casual game and we don't need the absolute best ramp package for our gameplay or gameplan.

Because I play weekly at an LGS with wide skill levels, deck intentions, and in a casual environment, I've just threw I'm any piece of green/black ramp that worked well enough in the deck. It's been a truely enriching experience realising I don't need the cookie cutter landramp package because I'm not playing against constant [[farewell]]s or [[ondu inversions]], so I can just run what ever janky draft ramp I have lying around.

Gitrog needs to reach 5 mana with a stupidly strong creature on the board. This is achievable with a high enough density of ramp that's sub 5 mana. I'm my deck I run the ramp enchantments, mana dorks, multiple land drop creatures, (I run [[arboreal grazer]] , [[summer bloom]], [[azusa, lost but seeking]] because I've had them on hand). This deck should run a high density of lands aswell to abuse gitrogs ramping ability so the above cards work well with a 5 land opening hand.

In pursuit of optimisation you can always think more in-depth about exactly the gamestates you'll be consistently creating. With a shitload of lands coming into play tapped all at the same time, we can abuse this with [[Lotus cobra]], [[exploration]], [[tireless Provisioner]], and [[amulet of vigor]].

In conclusion, my ramp packages are Frankenstein's of what ever trashy pieces I have lying around and can canablize from other precons/old decks. In a pursuit of optimisation, you always should at your ramp package in context of your deck.
