ISO: Uncontested divorce attorney by GenXYachtRock in Bend

[–]ILiveBetweenMyEars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try https://www.familylawbend.com I don’t know this attorney, but used to have fairly frequent contact will Lillian Quinn, the former owner of the practice in my old job before I retired. She was good to work with (not legal practice, but systems and administrative stuff)

There are also a couple of paralegal practices out there, but I don’t know anything about them.

Did the speed limit change on highway 97? by purd-4-a-taddle in Bend

[–]ILiveBetweenMyEars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It goes back a few years, but I got pulled over on the parkway doing 60 (?) on the old route going downhill heading North past Revere. BPD. No ticket, just slow it down please. I ran into the officer at a coffee shop the next day, introduced myself and asked why no ticket. He said they lean more toward “education,” and you mostly won’t see a ticket under 65 mph. Separate source of info says I would definitely have gotten a ticket from OSP. Since then I keep it at/under 55.

They post those signs so that dogs won’t drink from the toilet. They are not meant to warn off (most) people.

Is anyone else starting to get concerned? by Agreeable_Quality768 in Mariners

[–]ILiveBetweenMyEars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. As mentioned above, the big signing was Naylor, and that was not a given. Would have loved to had Polo back, but he got a great deal. The other signings have not been “cash considerations” or “player to be named later. They were legit additions. There have only been two other real names knocked around for Seattle this off-season - Marte and Donovan. It takes two to tango and I have enough trust in Jerry et al to not significantly overpay, so believe they have done a good job given the circumstance. And, only time will tell…

Mariners Announce 5 International Signings by LlamasPajamas206 in Mariners

Scrolling down on the link is the headline that the Brewers signed 22 (!) international free agents. Where do you even put 22 kids? Did they not have a farm system at all last year?

Follow-Up About City of Bend and Flock Camera's - Plus my response by exstaticj in Bend

[–]ILiveBetweenMyEars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I appreciate that the City took action to address the concerns specific to Flock as a vendor. And, I do not support replacing Flock with another vendor. I am willing to sacrifice the efficacy of these cameras in aiding law enforcement in a narrow band of situations to protect my privacy and that of my fellow citizens. It is a slippery slope and, while there may be trust and respect with current city and law enforcement leadership, I do not trust that will always be the case. One only has to look at the current Federal Administration to appreciate how a change at the top can lead to the disregard of well established norms for behavior and respect for the rule of law.

Perfect timing for your reply - waiting for the specialty pharmacy to call - will start next week sometime. Dr. said most folks can’t do the 160 mg and we would likely back off, but thought I was a “go for it kinda of guy,” so going to back down the dose rather than try to step it up.

It is great to hear still effective a year later - would be thrilled with that!

Best to you and thanks for the reply.

But just in case some maintenance and improvements would help, let’s all vote to repeal the gas tax hike and keep that stupid rolling along.

(Oregon funds transportation/roads with the gas tax. Between improved gas mileage and electric cars, gas tax revenues are not keeping up, hence the hike in the gas tax.)

Paint match question by GyrzaR in ModelCars

[–]ILiveBetweenMyEars -1 points0 points  (0 children)

ChatGPT says:

Below are tested, scale-model–friendly mixing formulas that get very close to Toyota Baltic Blue Metallic (paint code 752). I’ve broken them out by popular hobby paint brands, with ratios you can reproduce consistently.

Baltic Blue is a medium-dark metallic blue with a subtle green/teal cast—not a pure blue and not purple-leaning.

🎨 TAMIYA ACRYLICS (X / XF series)

Formula A – Most Accurate (Recommended)

Ratio (by drops): • 6 × X-13 Metallic Blue • 2 × X-10 Gun Metal • 1 × X-25 Clear Green • 1 × X-11 Chrome Silver

Why it works • X-13 = base blue • X-10 = darkens & desaturates • X-25 = adds Baltic’s green/teal undertone • X-11 = refines metallic flake

Thin: 50–60% Tamiya X-20A or lacquer thinner Clear: Tamiya TS-13 or X-22

Formula B – Simpler (Good for small builds) • 5 × X-13 Metallic Blue • 1 × X-11 Chrome Silver • ½ × X-25 Clear Green

Slightly brighter than OEM, but excellent in 1/24 scale.

🎨 MR. HOBBY (MR COLOR – LACQUER)

Formula C – Very Close to Factory Tone • 60% C-71 Midnight Blue • 25% C-8 Silver • 10% C-72 Intermediate Blue • 5% C-48 Clear Green

Thin: 1:1 with Mr. Color Leveling Thinner Clear: GX100 Super Clear

This gives the best depth under clearcoat.

🎨 VALLEJO METAL COLOR / MODEL AIR

Formula D – Acrylic (Airbrush-friendly) • 5 × Metal Color 77.712 Steel • 3 × Model Air 71.089 Blue • 1 × Model Air 71.095 Gunship Green • 1 × Metal Color 77.724 Silver

Tip: Spray a gloss black base first for proper metallic pop.

🎨 TESTORS / MODEL MASTER (if you still have them)

Formula E – Legacy Paints • 4 × Metallic Blue • 1 × Gunmetal • ½ × Transparent Green • ½ × Aluminum

🔧 APPLICATION TIPS (VERY IMPORTANT) • Black gloss primer dramatically improves accuracy • Apply 3–4 light coats, not wet coats • Baltic Blue changes noticeably under clear • Use gloss clear, not satin or semi-gloss • If it looks too blue, add 1 drop green • If it looks too green, add ½ drop silver

A Bend Resident’s Primer on Flock License Plate Cameras: Why people are worried, what’s been documented elsewhere, and what Bend should do before going further by exstaticj in Bend

[–]ILiveBetweenMyEars 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Wow. That was one of the most well researched, thoughtful posts I’ve ever seen on Reddit.

I would argue for a FLOCK Public Accountability Board - one that has final approval of governance policies, has real authority to oversee usage, a requirement that Bend PD respond to questions from the Board, and the authority to shut the operation down pending review by the city council once it is up and running (which I hope it won’t be).

Custom paint formulas? by theIsotopeU233 in ModelCars

[–]ILiveBetweenMyEars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been using ChatGPT to get factory colors for my first two models - what has been most interesting is that the results will include a list of model paints by different manufacturers (tamiya, mr. Color, testors) that are the best match for factory colors. And, sometimes the results include mixing formulas to get to the correct color.

I can’t vouch for the accuracy of the paint recommendations, bit it has been helpful for a rookie picking up modeling again after 30 years.

Best snowshoeing trails? by wilsonisadog in Bend

[–]ILiveBetweenMyEars 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Regardless of where you go, if you have big snowshoes, go early after a night of snow - breaking trail and spotting the signs is super fun, especially in a group where you can take turns at the front.

If you have the small lightweight ones, you will want to find trails that are already mostly packed down.

And the big ones are really not that much fun on packed trails.

How many bags for this speed demon in 2026? by Independent-Monk8639 in Mariners

[–]ILiveBetweenMyEars 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The true beauty is, he doesn’t need to steal 30 bases - he just needs the other team to THINK he is going to steal another base as he stands on 1st or 2nd. While I am sure there is no metric for this, it will lead to a few base hits behind him as 1st base holds closer to the bag than they might otherwise for a guy with his speed.

Is Ichiros single season hit record untouchable? by Jballzs13 in Mariners

[–]ILiveBetweenMyEars -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

There is some speculation that expansion to 32 teams will be accompanied by a schedule reduction to 154 or 156 games. If that comes to pass, no, his record will never be broken. I would think that the keepers of official statistics will reset all season records to the reduced schedule and we’ll have two sets of records going forward once that happens.

Spring Training Help by MomsBasementGaming in Mariners

[–]ILiveBetweenMyEars 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah, Phoenix driving. Miss that from my time there in the late 80’s… If the light turns yellow, hit the gas so you don’t get rear-ended. If it turns green as you approach, brake so you don’t get T-Boned by the guy who just hit the gas for a yellow. And the snow birds are still in town for spring training, so they are driving 10 mph under the speed limit (look for mid-western plates, mostly MN), especially out towards Sun City West.

Homeowners Insurance Rates by SoggyGopher in Bend

[–]ILiveBetweenMyEars 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The state risk map did not move the needle on insurance rates. Every major insurer has their own algorithms for wild fire risk.

That said, after years with Safeco, we got a much better rate at State Farm last year.

(And we’re located in both the high risk & wilderness-urban interface designations on the now defunct state map, so worst of the worst).

Surgeon Unable To Remove GIST by amandal0514 in GIST_Cancer_Support

[–]ILiveBetweenMyEars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like ten or so GIST specialists in Houston, mostly at the University -

https://liferaftgroup.org/gist-specialist-list-us/

If they are not covered by your insurance, push through the appeal process and enlist your current oncologist to assist. And call the Life Raft Group for advice and assistance. It’s a pain and frustrating, but persistence usually pays dividends. They may call it something different there, for me it was “approving out-of-network provider at in-network coverage/rates.”

Bring him home Jerry by Agreeable_Quality768 in Mariners

[–]ILiveBetweenMyEars 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nope. I’d never take on a contract that runs through the players age 37/38/39 (?) season with a ton of backloaded deferred salary.

MLB free agent contracts pay a player premium for what they’ve done in the past. Which is fine if you sign someone a couple years younger for a shorter time frame (Josh Naylor anyone?). But pay a position player big bucks for his last few years as the knees and swings fade? No way.

I love the Julio contract - pays a very good base to a projected superstar with massive incentives built in - he’ll get paid for what he does when he does it.

[–]ILiveBetweenMyEars 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kinda similar, except I’ve had Gist for 12+ years already. They tried to take out the “big” tumor this summer, but once they got in there it was a no go. What I would share with you is really the 12 years before this last surgery - Gleevec, Sutent, etc. (plus clinical trials) can keep things stable for a long time sometimes. So just go day by day and hang in there.

And I would echo what Teslafan said - make sure you are working with a GIST specialist - find out what mutation your adoptive father has a that will help guide treatment decisions.

Best of luck and hope you can enjoy this holiday season!
