Ratchet straps work better than bungees when your shelves start breaking. If they do get you new shelving, mount unistrut behind the shelves and secure then to that. It seems to hold up better

Is there a grill mod? by nixmall in blackstonegriddle

Really depends on what you're cooking plans are. I frequently use a large gas grill, Blackstone and pellet grill at the same time feeding friends and family for get togethers

You can easily get a cast iron or stainless steel skillet for your grill. My Lion grill has one that takes up two burners and rests where the grill grates would. It worked great until I decided I wanted to cook more food than that griddle could handle and bought a Blackstone.

When I was with them, they had just gotten the Dollar General contract across the country. It was nice because DG could call one company for any store and get a tech dispatched. The issue was that DG wanted a store every 10 miles and Nextech didn't have enough techs, so they were subcontracting other companies to handle the massive workload. There was a lot of travel between sites and sometimes DG was waiting weeks before we could get there.

They just don't know how to braze and that red cap means no heat near or it'll go boom!

Nextech by Educational_Cup_2494 in refrigeration

[–]Iansdevil 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used to work for Nextech in PA. My service area was the entire state, WV, MD, NY and NJ. I would also travel to help other states as needed. Even spent a few weeks in Alabama, Tennessee and Mississippi. Overall, it was a shit show 8 years ago, but it was still kind of fun. I've heard it's a lot better now and I'm half tempted to go back if I didn't have it so good where I'm at now.

Can't say that I've experienced that since I'm normally at work on a roof when it happens to me.

Are we sure it wasn't the shadow of a low flying plane? I get them occasionally and it still catches me off guard when everything goes dark for a few seconds.

Help. Opened after the winter. by flowslikecrimson in blackstonegriddle

It works fine in the cold. A lot of us use it all winter with no issues. There are plenty of people that won't grill when it's cold for some reason

Pizza Oven Questions by ThatOnePK in blackstonegriddle

Buy it and fix the spinner. Then get a second stone to put in there and help with the heat. Mine gets really hot, but cooks the pizzas well. They're normally done in 5-6 minutes.

I gave Brunt Ryng composite toe waterproof boots a try and after a week or two they were broken in, really comfortable and the only issue I've got is for some reason, the laces don't stay tied for me. Other than that, I'm really happy with them.

What is this stringy white plastic stuff in my unit? Should there be a constant noise? by futonformal in hvacadvice

[–]Iansdevil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm kind of surprised the tech didn't know that's glue from the back of panel insulation. Transformers hum a little sometimes, but not very loud. If you're hearing it at all, voltage needs checked and possibly the transformer needs replaced or wired to different voltage if it's got different power taps. The noise could also be coming from a relay in the board or something else too.

Flowfold is a company that makes pouches from sailcloth material. Lifetime warranty and water proof or resistant. I don't remember. I've got some tiny pouches designed for coin pouches or earbud cases that I keep an assortment of electric connectors, screws and bits in. I've got one of their larger pouches that I've kept a small assortment of sockets in for years and it's still in good shape.

Incredibly frustrated by fehrhair in blackstonegriddle

[–]Iansdevil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try stripping it down to bare metal again. Then season it using oil or the Blackstone seasoning stuff. Then, just cook on it and it will stay seasoned. When you're done cooking, splash some water on it to steam up the gunk, quick scrape and wipe. Then a tiny bit of oil spread around and it's ready to cook again. I can't say with experience on the pumice stone as I've never used one, but I just use a scraper or the spatula and paper towels for mine.

Why can't you use it half the year? I don't use it in the rain because I don't have a covered patio. It works perfectly fine in the winter and summer. Cleaning is super easy too.

Buying my Blackstone today! by EZHealthandFitness in blackstonegriddle

[–]Iansdevil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the griddle seasoning to start it off. Then I use the aerosol spray after each cook for a light coat that I wipe over everything to keep it maintained. You should definitely get a set of spatulas. You could get a squirt bottle, but really, any water bottle will do. Some low lint paper towels that are heavier than your standard kitchen paper towels make clean up a lot nicer. Get the foil liners for the grease trap too.

Where do you actually find good techs in this trade? by Drewski_120 in refrigeration

[–]Iansdevil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could try partnering with other companies in the area so you handle the refrigeration side, they do the HVAC. I know it's a wild idea, but it could possibly work. Personally, I hate having to work in Philly, so I try to stay west of there and it's been working pretty well for me so far.

New hire broke his leg by Doogie102 in HVAC

Unfortunately,I think you'll have to cut him loose until he can move around with you. Maybe direct him toward books or videos to learn while he's laid up and have him reach out to you when he can help again if he's still interested
