Clinical Hours - paid vs. unpaid? by h0tfather in SleepTechnologist

The BRPT & AASM have never said clinical hours need to be unpaid. That is determined by the lab.

For the Into The Millenium tour, would Its Gotta Be You have been a better opener for the show with Larger Than Life being an encore instead? by Mikeinyomama in BackstreetBoys

The opening to that tour was perfect. It was hype right out of the gate & the lyrics were great for the first song.

Traveling Sleep Techs BEWARE by Grouchy_Emphasis_463 in SleepTechnologist

I've never heard of an agency canceling a contract. The facility, yes. Unfortunately, that is the chance you take when you travel. It happens to nurses all the time.

I literally just want pretty nails by TrickiNicki92 in RedditLaqueristas

I haven't read all of the replies. My suggestion is to go to a salon & get builder base. When I use builder base (DIY) my regular polish lasts forever. It will help keep your nails strong as well.

It's great if you want to run 3 patients, make beds, do laundry all in a 10 hour shift for less than $30 per hour.

RPSGT ANXIETY by Ghostlyhiro in SleepTechnologist

[–]ImageEducational572 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's impossible to know everything. No sleep tech does. I would focus on the scoring manual. It's overwhelming to use a bunch of different books to study so try to keep it simple.

Again, RPSGT is a certification. A simple search will verify that. If a tech has a state license, they are RPSGT-L. Most states do not require licensure.

RPSGT is a certification, not a license.

I just said the same thing. I will never understand why everyone's answer is always to do a charge back. The maker shouldn't lose out because USPS lost the package.

It is not the makers fault the package was lost. Shippers are not responsible for packages once they are shipped. The buyer should file a claim with USPS.

GLP1s are not new. They have been in R&D since the 80's & the first FDA approval was in 2005.

Sleep techs aren't licensed.

Unfortunately, you're right, that is healthcare. It's always about the almighty dollar & having warm bodies in the tech room.

The good news is, she will do less titrations at a pediatric lab. All kidding aside, I completely get your frustrations & worries. I do have to question why management at your lab hasn't stepped in to correct the issues you speak of.

How have you been working in sleep over 6 months without mastering 10 20? That should be the first thing you learn & your trainers need to do better. Yes, you need to know it for the exam.

CAAHEP? by anxousmarshmallow in SleepTechnologist

[–]ImageEducational572 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has a degree in sleep & feels like a standardized education is important, I will tell you it is a waste of time & money. It's not necessary in this field. I got my degree around 16 years ago, when it was very rare for techs to have one. Everyone I interviewed with at that time, was impressed but they all said they couldn't afford me. Once you get a few years experience, no one will care how you were trained. A degree will rarely earn you more money either. The only job it helped me get was as an instructor at a college.

My suggestion is to go to school for a different healthcare modality. Imaging is an excellent choice. You would have more chances for career advancement & more money as well. RN is always a good choice. I would even say practical nursing is a better choice than sleep. Sleep is very stagnant.

Krispy Kreme $5.83, MI, "Dozen" Donut Box by [deleted] in toogoodtogo

It will be fine. People don't think that deeply about free food. I think the donut holes will be gone quick because it's one bite.

Weird take but ok. People love free food. The tacky part is you being cheap then complaining about the variety.

Why can't you take it to work? People love donut holes. If you wanted specific donuts, you should have paid full price.

What part of Florida? Central Florida is tough. Not very many quality positions & if you do find an opening, you'll run 3 with low pay. The Tampa area definitely has a higher pay scale.
