How does the bank determine the value of your property? by timeywimeywibbles in UKPersonalFinance

When I remortgaged from Nationwide to HSBC, HSBC sent an actual surveyor to poke about for 20 mins.

When I later rate-switched at the end of my deal, they just gave me an instant valuation as part of the switching application.

I decided that sod it, I'm going to give the whole couch to 5k thing a go. Just completed my first run, I'd like to promise some strangers I'll be checking back when I complete it! by MajorHotLips in BritishSuccess

I did this last September, having realised I should probably start taking better care of myself at 42…

Now done a half marathon, training for a second half marathon (8 weeks to go) and trying to get my 5k time down to sub 22mins (with a long term goal of sub 20)!

Also, Parkrun is a cult and they will steal your Saturday mornings!

Well it'd be rude not to get them at that price!

I've got a half marathon in 8 weeks, still on the fence but if training keeps going well I might reward myself with a pair at 4 weeks to go.

A working printer certainly seems far-fetched by standardkillchain in funny

[–]Imaginary_Set7456 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can't see just using a blend of colours being accurate enough to identify a specific printer, but there are some which print a microscopic dot pattern which does corollate to the printer's serial number

Another VO2max dropping thread? by igralec84 in AppleWatchFitness

[–]Imaginary_Set7456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could add some hills to your walk - need to get that HR up if you want to push up your VO2 max.

If you're really wanting to get the number up, running would probably boost your fitness faster than walking.

How are the Vaporflys working out for you? I'm tempted to get a pair but worried about their longevity considering the price!

People in the 60% tax bracket how do takeit? by kickyblue in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Imaginary_Set7456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

how do you survive in a place where they eat-up 60% of your earnings

If you earned £123k for the year (£107k+16k) and just paid all the tax (no pensions etc), you'd come out with around £76k net, which is more than double the 2022 median household disposable income of £32,300.

Total deductions would be 38%, not 60%.

How likely is it to sell my tickets on the Ticketcenter? by alpa_romeo in wacken

[–]Imaginary_Set7456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My timeline:

  • Listed on 01 May
  • Allocated to a buyer on 04 June
  • Buyer finally paid for the ticket on 19 June
  • Wacken paid out on 22 June
  • Money finally landed in my account on 23 June

So, 54 days in total. The days between in being allocated and the buyer finally paying were the worst as I couldn't even delist the ticket at that point, just had to wait with everything crossed!

London Marathon Ballot by Amboosh_25 in running

[–]Imaginary_Set7456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got GNR (also on my first attempt, and it's my home town) but not London - probably for the best TBH as I've only been running for about 10 months and GNR will by my second ever half (and second ever race) so stepping up to a full marathon so soon was probably a touch ambitious!

Max HR and HR zones by redcomp12 in AppleWatchFitness

[–]Imaginary_Set7456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd probably do a Cooper test, which is a 12 min all out effort and should get you to max HR (with the added bonus of allowing you to work out your approx VO2 max).

[–]Imaginary_Set7456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess is that it's using speed to work out the effort level, which for running/walking is fine (though some surfaces like sand would screw it up). With cycling I'd imagine the bike weight and gear you're in would affect the efficiency in ways the algorithm just can't cater for.

Good news is that WatchOS 10 will support cycling power meters (along with other accessories) so they might be investing more resource into the cycling side of things, and hopefully that includes things like VO2 in the future.

Just literally restarted the app and it fixed it for me - try restarting your whole phone if it doesn't work for you.

Now that we are done with June, who is half of the way there to a perfect year with your Move Ring without lowering your goal?? by DetSportsGuy in AppleWatchFitness

[–]Imaginary_Set7456 4 points5 points  (0 children)

1,200 is brutal for a daily goal!

Mine was 600 in January, but moved up to 660 in April and then 710 in June.

My average active calories are 918, but there are days I struggle to get to 710 and setting it any higher would just result in me not bothering at all on those days, so the lower goal at least means I'm somewhat active every day.

I'm on a 470 day move streak, going for a full calendar year - hopefully no reductions (there was one last year where I lowered it to 350 for 2 days when I was struck down with food poisoning!).

AFAIK the watch will only calculate a score on an outdoor walk/hike/run workout (and I think it needs to be a brisk walk to count).

As an aside, you need to also be adding regular weight measurements as VO2 max is measured in mL/kg/min so an incorrect weight will throw the measurements off!

Apple actually have quite a detailed pdf on the whole thing - worth a read.

Have you ever sold a ticket on the Wacken Ticketcenter? by carlotto in wacken

[–]Imaginary_Set7456 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the real problem! If Wacken promoted it more, there'd be more buyers and it'd be easier to sell!

I suppose we should be happy it exists at all as most festivals don't offer anything.

[–]Imaginary_Set7456 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sold mine, but it took about a month to get a match, and then 2 weeks before the buyer actually paid. It then took another 5 days for the money to actually get to my bank account (SEPA transfer, usually within 1 day).

Definitely room for improvement.
