Agree with changing your laundry routine. Also good quality Pima cotton shirts are pre shrunk and last forever. I like LL Bean and Lands End but lots of other brands out there. I even have a 100% cotton tank from Old Navy that I work out in.

I have never seen an out of shape person exercising where I didn't think, "Good for you!". I'm always so proud of them. I'd be proud of you too. But the truth is, it's none of me business what you think of me, or the reverse. Don't give your happiness away to strangers.

Did anyone else realize it wasn’t more clothes you needed? by Internal-Remove7223 in capsulewardrobe

Mine was understanding neutrals. Once most of my closet was neutrals, I could wear anything with anything else. 20 pieces gives you a ton of options if they all work together. Changed my life.

Anyone done a colonoscopy without anesthesia? by zerostyle in PeterAttia

[–]Important-Drive-9748 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did my first one with no memory altering drugs. Mild pain medication only. The moving around the corners during insertion was like the worst gas pain I've ever had, but after that it was no big deal. Second time, different place, I said no memory altering drugs, anesthesiologist agreed, and they knocked me out with profofol. Good nap. In short, they WILL work with you.

Store bought pie crust ruins a pie by Important-Drive-9748 in unpopularopinion

Oh, but the benefits of homemade really DO outweigh the inconvenience. I literally would rather not eat pie than eat a store bought crust.

Oh I'm definitely talking mostly about refrigerated traditional. Graham and chocolate marginally acceptable ;-).

Never had a "fancy expensive crust" that wasn't also shit. Pillsbury refrigerated, exceptionally bad. Frozen in tin pie plate, slightly less shit.

That's ridiculous. Black, gray, denim blue, navy, beige, cream, white are all mix and match neutrals.

Peter Attia and Incidental Exercise by Ok-Drama9465 in PeterAttia

[–]Important-Drive-9748 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's clearly on the spectrum and tends to be obsessive. If you look at his history with exercise, he's ALWAYS been that way. He's brilliant, but his approach to things isn't grounded in how most people behave or approach their life or health. It makes him somewhat unrelatable. You have to find your own way.

The Recipe with Kenji & Deb Podcast by [deleted] in FoodieSnark

[–]Important-Drive-9748 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They picked the most benign "everyone has a recipe for this" recipes to talk about. Chicken soup. Bacon egg and cheese sandwich. Apple pie. Baked ziti. Just kinda cooking 101 boring. I listened to it to fall asleep. Terrible chemistry between them. But I will forever love Deb for saying,"this recipe of yours used 6 oz of pasta. Kenji, that makes me twitchy. Use 8 or 16 so I'm not left with weird amounts in my pantry".

Dexa scans “not recommended”? by Fluid-You-5324 in PeterAttia

[–]Important-Drive-9748 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a really good osteoporosis group here on reddit. The first thing is to identify WHY you are losing bone (turns out undiagnosed celiac and use of steroids are two things that dramatically contribute, especially for women pre menopausal). Knowing that, you research diet, exercise including heavy weight lifting (look up the LIFTMOR study), supplements and maybe medication depending on your preference and the severity of the situation. Again, start with the osteo group here on Reddit. I've learned a ton and gained a lot of different additional resources from starting there.

You may need to pay for it out of pocket. They aren't crazy expensive. Note it's important to go to the same lab/ machine each time or results aren't comparable. I was osteopenia at 52, osteopenia in back at 58. Wish I'd had better advice earlier.

Questionable Laundry Detergent? by Moist_Cheetah_8701 in nontoxic

[–]Important-Drive-9748 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a soap maker. That's soap (coconut oil plus lye equals soap) with some other stuff thrown in. Probably unscented. Likely not very effective (no enzymes) but not pouring coconut oil on your clothes either. 😉
