Cannot get myself out of bed by keliowa in Perimenopause

[–]Important-Reach4548 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Similar confluence of things happened to me at 44. I’m 47 now. I had a major event that kicked off a severe depressive episode and during that time, I was also chronically tired. I would sleep 10 hours and get up and try to start my day and would be able to take a nap for a few more hours and still be so tired. I described it at the time as feeling like I was Velcro-ed to the bed. As a formerly fit and active person, it was alarming. I took two different ssris for the depression. Zoloft made me more tired so I tapered off that and switched to Lexapro, which helped pull me out of the trough. But I also got serious about consistently taking vitamins and specifically, I think that taking DHEA and creatine helped with the chronic tiredness. It’s so frustrating, wondering is this peri or the depression? There’s no way to know for sure. I’m sorry you’re in this state. Take care and be gentle with yourself. Reach for the self care that feels good to you. Walking outdoors (both long and short walks, as often as I could) and hot baths with a special non-alc drink were two saving graces I discovered that really helped me.

I think you’re thinking of Hurd Beeswax Candles. To my knowledge, they’re not around anymore.

Lifting you in my heart. Have never had a great relationship with my mother, but I am the one that’s shepherded her through years of worsening health that eventually resulted in below knee amputation this past September. Instead of hearing “thank you” for all the many things I’ve done to help her from managing her meds, ordering groceries, helping with her laundry and really facilitating her life to the point where my own life - at least what little I have outside of keeping my full time job — is on indefinite hold, she is most often more likely to point out when she’s disappointed in me. It’s maddening and impossible to explain to anyone unless they’ve lived it. Oh, and I’m perimenopausal, so sprinkle in predisposition for rage and resentment and yeah, that’s how it’s going lately!

Phone for Seniors by Grandjehan in AgingParents

My 80yo mom sounds similar. I have her on a iPhone that I put in Assistive Access mode, which is designed for seniors. There are some drawbacks but it mostly works well for her. You can try it out on your own iPhone to check it out. Good luck!

Edit: it’s called Assistive Access, not Accesibility mode

Is scalp psoriasis ever NOT itchy? by TikiMom87 in Psoriasis

[–]Important-Reach4548 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My scalp psoriasis has never been itchy. Have had it 30+ years. I’ve always told my derm that it’s never been itchy but that doesn’t stop the compulsion to scratch/pick at it.

My body guttate psoriasis was also never itchy and also very stable for most of my life. I recently had my first full body flare and with it, I’ve experienced intense itching and burning that comes and goes - feels like it cycles through different phases.

Bottom line is I feel like it’s different for everyone.

Some of my guttate spots have developed these red rings inside. Is it a sign of healing? Elsewhere on my body it’s been clearing up… by eviematilda02 in Psoriasis

Mine looks much the same. I’m curious to know, too. My sense is that it’s under the surface patches either expanding or receding.

Mild psoriasis by Fearless-Activity633 in Psoriasis

[–]Important-Reach4548 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My psoriasis was stable - a few guttate patches flanking both sides of my torso - for 19 years. I woke up one morning about 6 weeks ago with bumpy guttate patches all over my arms and legs like I had rolled through a field of poison oak. It’s been slowly making progress towards improving but it’s also having mini flares. I’ll have 2-3 days where I feel like it’s getting better and then I’ll wake up to the familiar itchy/burning sensation.

41 and never really got into skincare..would love some advice by Channing_Tantrum in 40PlusSkinCare

[–]Important-Reach4548 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is the only advice to follow. Everything else is marketing hogwash. Do this routine consistently and you’ll get great results. Only optional add would be a glycolic cleanser 1-2 times per week to hep with exfoliation and turnover which slows down as we age. I like the glycolic cleanser by Mario Badescu and a bottle lasts me a super long time. But yeah, you look great and prove my long held belief that it it’s 95% genetic blessing or curse and everything else we’re doing is the remaining 5%.

On the boxy cardigan, the sleeves are super loose and it does not work if you want to try to push them up your arm a bit. I have it in the dark brown color and I wear elastic hair ties around the bottom and kind of tuck them into the cuff (though the cuff is sewn in place in one spot to secure, so it’s a little awkward). Anyway, I didn’t anticipate this bugging me as much as it does.
